Wizenedstaff 30
I actually built this to take on the dreaded Carn Dum quest! Although I can't claim I have beaten that quest with it, I did realise the deck had some strength in going quite a few rounds against that quest without being overwhelmed, but the lack of threat reduction meant running out of time. It was in playing the Foundations of Stone quest that I realised what this deck can be: a middle-distance runner. It isn't built to seize a quest by the throat, nor is it built to turtle: slowly taking the sting out of the deck and then advancing when built up. I waited at Stage One until my threat hit 40 and then went through the gears powerfully. It requires some patience, but it comes together relatively quickly and then it is potent, as it should be if the Lord of Rivendell set his mind to rousing the Ents in alliance with his Woodland kin! This is the first time I have used Mirlonde and it is great to see two powerhouse heroes in tandem. As a mono-Lore deck, I have prioritised the central strengths of Lore: healing (Imladris Caregiver, Lembas, Wellinghall Preserver and Self Preservation) and card draw (Heed the Dream, Master of the Forge and Daeron's Runes). Naturally, Master of the Forge is also there to find Vilya, which can accelerate the building of one's board state considerably once attached to Elrond. Elrond's healing bonus really helps to keep Treebeard at peak efficiency in the mid- to late-game, when this deck can feel immensely powerful. Across the Ettenmoors was turned into a simply trivial affair by this deck. Henamarth Riversong and Lembas can consitute an alternative tactic to finding Vilya in some quests, such as Journey along the Anduin, where engaging the Hill Troll is immediate and allowing Elrond to defend and then attack is useful. Treebeard with Ent Draught and Self Preservation attached is immensely strong. Firyal, Wellinghall Preserver, Lindon Navigator and Haldir of Lórien will allow this deck to quest formidably too.
