Thanee 150

This deck, built from only a single core set, has been built specifically to defeat Journey Down The Anduin (with a legal 50-card deck). It worked pretty well for me and a number of other players as well.

In case you are wondering about the Daughter of the Nimrodel. You can discard her with Éowyn and then play her with Stand and Fight. :-)

It worked fine using Steward of Gondor on Éowyn and playing Stand and Fight to play characters like Beorn and Faramir from the discard pile. However, I still find really difficult to beat JAtA just with the Core Set.

It's not an easy scenario for sure. But it's doable, at least. :-)

@ThaneeFor the record, your deck for this scenario on Standard difficulty just cannot be used to beat it. In 5 games, I always got past Stage 1, but failed in Stage 2 when the long line of encounter cards kept coming out. Therefore, your deck is useless for beating this scenario on Standard difficulty. I am now forced to attempt the scenario in Easy mode (removing the gold-marked cards), which I strongly believe will come out with a win. Fortunately for your deck, it beats out @Beorns deck for this scenario in the sense that I always got to Stage 2. With his deck, you can't even get past Stage 1, so congratulations on that. I will report back when I attempt Anduin on Easy mode, since Standard is impossible.

It won't work every time, but it certainly does work. Check out the thread on BGG linked above. Plenty people managed to beat the scenario with it. :)

It's not perfect, but it should do the trick, if you give yourself a little time to build up in the beginning, ideally being able to reduce your Threat some with Gandalf or The Galadhrim's Greeting.

Anyways, good luck! :)

@ThaneeSuccess! I am very happy to report that I beat this scenario with your deck on my second attempt using Easy mode. It's critical to give 1 resource to each Hero during setup before the game starts. That way, you can put Steward of Gondor in play immediately. Removing all the gold encounter cards are absolutely essential as well. After that, things went smoothly. Beorn also came out, which was great, and Gandalf appeared twice. So for anybody wanting to use this deck, it's fantastic for Easy mode, not Standard.

Good to hear! :)

As mentioned above, it is definitely doable in standard mode without any adjustments to the difficulty. You won't win every game, considering it is a fairly tough scenario for the limited card pool, but it is quite possible (even likely) to win.

I actually tried this deck just now. Victory on first game with a really good score (137). Gonna play again to see whether I was lucky or if this is indeed a good deck.

Played my second game. Not a chance. Had to use all 3 Gandalf for threat management and got almost no allies out of the deck so got a massive enemy pile up in the staging area.

@ThaneeGot a victory on the second run using this deck, 138 points standard mode. Quite straightforward victory after a winning choice, having Gandalf reduce threat level just before encountering three treacheries and shadow effects targeting threat levels over 35, all almost presciently avoided.

Good to hear people still finding this useful. Thank you! :-)
