Who gave Tom Bombadil the Ring? And why does he keep wandering off to do side quests instead of just destroying the damn thing?

This deck was surprisingly effective at soloing the first two quests in the game (Passage Through Mirkwood and Journey Along the Anduin), and even managed to complete Intruders in Chetwood after three or four attempts. The whole point is to slowly build up Tom's willpower while abusing the direct damage from his ability and a few other sources to deal with enemies quickly. A few points for gameplay:

  • Start with Protector of Lórien and mulligan for Elven-light to get the card draw engine going and provide a bit of a willpower boost early on.

  • Tom can defend attacks with a A Burning Brand and his high HP when necessary, and Well Preserved takes care of whatever healing you need (though Song of Healing is a definite possibility for this as well).

  • Hey Dol! Merry Dol! becomes a bit of a machine gun with the contract and Tom's ability.

  • Protector of Lórien + Song of Hope means that you can get up to +6 willpower from spending resources, as long as Elven-light is in your discard pile. Most of the deck is cheap, so in the late game this will definitely be possible.

  • Will of the West is included because games can go long enough to run through the whole deck, and so the reset button is very helpful.

Tom wanders Middle Earth, not giving a single &*^% about Sauron and helping folk out!

would give him Ring of Barahir together with The One Ring gives +2 overall with Well Preserved 9 hp. that is much more save than 7. perhaps think of Fatty Lumpkin

Both great suggestions!

How does this deck deal with boss enemies that are immune to player card effects?

Why do you not have Love of Tales?

@NERD see this is why I like publishing decks. I'm a bit of a n00b sometimes so I overlook things. Great suggestion!

@Urthli it doesn't really, which is why it's probably not a true solo deck. If I wanted to deal with such things I could try some goofiness with Nor am I a Stranger and Herugrim for some raw fighting power, or just include some hard-hitting allies. I expect though that this deck will have at least one partner that can handle such things more often than not. Can you suggest a quest with such a boss that would make for good experimentation?

One that comes to mind would be from the first ALeP deluxe expansion, Children of Eorl and the Oath of the Rohirrim. The first quest of that expansion, Ambush at Erelas has got the Brigand Ringleader.
