Mulligan for A Very Good Tale. Play down a big ally using Denethor's large starting pool. Pull in another big ally in the combat phase with Imrahil. Play your tale before the ally disappears. Now I've answered your question "Why is Brok Ironfist in the deck?"
With Steward on Denethor he can afford to keep playing Tome of Atanatar to recycle your tales. If you don't draw into one, Heed the Dream for one (or two!).
Keep an eye on your discard pile. You don't want all your Song of Travel or Will of the West to end up in there. If you've lost two already, Heed the Dream for the last one.

I find it difficult to play a good ally with Denethor early. None of the leadership allies cost 3 or less, so I cannot play them turn 1.
