Hey everyone,

Chris here with a new deck for this week that isn't at all what I set out to build. I was originally building an Ent deck with this hero lineup! They're hugely powerful allies, and I do kind of love leaning heavily into tactics cards without a tactics hero.

Instead, I decided to go a little more thematic, so we're going for a Gondor build this time around. And there are some fun elements of the card pool this deck has reminded me of. Like why does Gondor get all of the Captains? And is Visionary Leadership a pun about the dream we're Heeding?

Strategy:

Piloting this deck is pretty straight forward. All the resources go on Elrond, so you can play any ally you'd like. Yes, even Denethor's resource every round should get passed to Elrond.

And the allies I picked are generally cheap, so once you have a Rod of the Steward in play, you should use it to draw heavily.

There are a few tricks to help get the most out of the deck, especially when it comes to A Very Good Tale. If you play Gandalf from your hand, he won't leave until the end of the refresh phase. Which means you can play A Very Good Tale during the refresh phase and get new allies but only starting the next round with one exhausted character. Along similar lines, Citadel Custodian is a 5 cost ally, even though you don't have to pay anywhere near that much to get him into play. So he's a very good choice to tell the Very Good Tale.

Video Thoughts:

As is only appropriate for a Gondor build, this week's first video is an attempt at The Steward's Fear! You can find it on youtube here

I kept the best "bad hand" I think I've ever seen. Starting with Steward of Gondor and Rod of the Steward is fantastic, but I had almost nothing to spend those resources on.

But the deck persevered, drawing a ton of cards as I waited for the encounter deck to give me locations to clear. At least my small swarm from Pelargir proved pretty adept at killing Underworld Dissidents.

And you can check back later this week, when I take this swarm of tiny allies and try to kill the Watcher in the Water.

Thanks for watching!
