64 - Raid on the Grey Havens (Progression Series)

Description

This is another fellowship continuing on in my goal to play through all of the quests in release order to learn how all (or most) of the cards interact with one another. The first fellowship for the quests in the core set can be found here, and it contains a slightly more detailed overview of what I'm going for with building these decks. As always, any feedback is appreciated so that I can continue to learn more!

Well, the difficulty sure jumped from the previous two quests in this box! I had used Narya with Círdan the Shipwright on the previous quests, so I figured it was a good time to toss it on Gandalf and give that a shot. I decided on building an Ent deck to take full advantage of the readying boost, and included Faramir to get even more readying, and Gríma to help get them out in the early game.

The high threat, plus Doomed from Grima can mean threating out is a danger for both decks, so Secret Vigil is included to help out, as well as The Fall of Gil-Galad. Getting some extra action advantage by sacrificing and Grima to an undefended Corsair attack and reducing that deck's threat by 9 was fun every time I managed to pull it off.

The Aragorn deck wants to help get some early game willpower out with the various spirit allies, and then hopefully allow Beregond and Aragorn to deal with enemies as quickly as possible so that they don't get a chance to pile up resources. Since Willpower is a little slow getting out in the Ent deck, it is vital to start getting it out in this one. However, I found it best to just sacrifice some of the early locations to the Aflame keyword in order to clear out threat from the staging area. Feint and Horn's Cry are great cards to save for Stage 2 when Sahir and Na'asiyah show up.
