Book Club: Slopes of Amon Hen

"A mile, maybe, from Parth Galen in a little glade not far from the lake he found Boromir. He was sitting with his back to a great tree, as if he was resting. But Aragorn saw that he was pierced with many black-feathered arrows; his sword was still in his hand, but it was broken near the hilt; his horn cloven in two was at his side. Many Orcs lay slain, piled all about him and at his feet."

I've decided to build a series of decks that encapsulate a specific point in the Lord of the Rings books, so they're essentially broad "theme" decks and the cards within are selected primarily for 'thematic fit' than their 'raw power'. As such these decks probably won't work against every quest, and should probably always be played as part of a two-handed/two player setup, so plan accordingly.

This deck is meant to represent Boromir's last stand on the slopes of Amon Hen trying to defend Merry and Pippin from the Uruk-Hai

Opening Hand:

Ideally we want Boromir set up for defending at the very least as soon as possible so a Gondorian Shield is a good choice to see in your opening 6 cards. Either a Fast Hitch or Hobbit Pony for Merry to get our threat reduction online as quick as possible to counteract Boromir's threat ramping.

At The Table:

As we're not running Leadership or heavy spirit (for Zigil Miner and Imladris Stargazer) we're not running any Blood and Fire shenanigans with Boromir so he won't be reaching any crazy high levels of attack/defence.

There's a few off-theme ally choices in the deck, as we don't have a great deal of heroes from the Fellowship in ally form yet, but we're gonna sneak in a Legolas (he could probably have hit some Uruk-Hai from Parth Galen anyway right?) and some Gandalf to help us out with threat reduction.

We should have card draw covered between Pippin's response early as our starting threat is quite low. Peace, and Thought with Boromir and some #Fast Hitch's for our Hobbits almost feels like cheating.

The Good Meal should primarily go on Merry to help pay for The Galadhrim's Greeting or just to make sure we can pay for that A Test of Will when we need to.

Sideboard:

The sideboard is pretty slim, and probably fits as a little Pipe themed card package for our threat reduction and card draw, though I feel it uses to many card slots we'd want to use for more combat-centric cards

@stokesbook probably my favorite of your themed decks so far. I'm going to build this for sure and take it for a spin. Thank you and keep up the good work.
