This is a Three Hunters deck that uses a tri-color combination and shows off just how powerful these three heroes can be. This is not a deck that is going to win against every quest in solo, but it does a very nice job against many quests.
The best way for me to explain how to best use this deck is to go through how I plan to set-up each hero when going into a game.
The Mulligan
At the beginning of most games, their is often times a certain card that you are looking for. In this case, since Steward of Gondor is in the deck, it is always a nice card to see. However, Unlikely Friendship is a great card to see at the beginning of the game especially if you have one of the allies in hand as well. Keep Watch is good at any time during a quest, but the earlier you can finish it, the better.
Aragorn
In this deck we are using Aragorn, and just like in the story he strengthens everyone around him. His global debuff to each enemy of -1 . Eventually throughout the game you are hoping to be able to give him Sword that was Broken so that the party can have a boost to . He is also a candidate for a Gondorian Shield and Armored Destrier, though he would need the provided from StwB first.
His primary use is going to be combat, though in the early game, you may need him to quest. He is useful for attack and defense, and can really fit whatever situation you specifically need addressed. Since this deck does not have all that much in terms of post-attack readying, I found that I did not use his response as much, though there are some combinations where it can be quite useful. But if you would like to better utilize his response, or want to quest with him, I would consider making some substitions in the deck in order to put in Steed of the North.
Gimli
The more I use Gimli, the more I like him. His response is very helpful and could very well be the pivotal point of this deck. You will want to quest with both he and Legolas in the early game, and possibly through the entire game, but he is also going to be your primary defender.
He is your candidate for Steward of Gondor because his ability costs resources, so you will want more of them. As much as I like to avoid using this card, it truly is important in getting this deck going.
With Steward he will now be able to generate more resources as well as get a boost in when you eventually give him a Gondorian Shield, which you will want to see happen early.
Getting him an Armored Destrier helps him to be ready for multiple defenses or swing back with his axe in order to assist in defeating enemies.
For resource smoothing, I suggest giving him a Song of Travel. I know that he could have Narvi's Belt because of his dwarven heritage, but since the resource cost of is so low in this the song just makes more sense and is more economical.
Legolas
Legolas is going to be a quester, but he is going to be this deck's most powerful attacker. A quick Hall of Beorn search tells us that 1 Rivendell Blade in conjunction with Aragorn's debuff and Gimli's response (which gives Legolas +1 ), enables him to one shot kill 271 enemies in the game, which is most of them. Realistically, on turn one, you could kill an enemy with 3 and 4 Hit Points.
So, give Legolas Rivendell blades. Quest with him, so that he can boost Gimli and then later be boosted himself. Because most of our allies in the deck are from the sphere, I like to give Legolas extra resources from either Proud Hunters or Unlikely Friendship. Elven-light is obviously the most ideal card to discard, and with some Song of Travel on the table, it can spread out which heroes pay to bring it back, so that does not become resource poor.
Allies
The allies in this deck are for questing, and if you are in a pinch they can chumb block as well.
Other Things
Archery can be a challenge because there are not a lot of places to spread the damage out to.
Hunting Party is in the sideboard because of the deck's high . If you are playing a quest where enemies are too tough to kill early consider tossing that in there.
Mirkwood Long-knife is a weapon that I toyed around with in the deck but just wasn't really worth the 2 in the end, when I had access to the sphere.
I had a hunters deck previously that I played quite a lot and I used DĂșnedain Remedy to deal with archery damage. It does get costly but I found my heroes usually had resources to spare on later turns when you would want to heal as well.
My deck was a pretty different though (I used Aragorn) so not sure what you could cut here to make room for the remedies.
