Mustardman 557

Mustardman has a newer deck inspired by this one: Dale: Pure Series #2

Pure Series:

This is a series of about 10 decks that I made that don’t share any cards with each other. Meaning I can only use Steward of Gondor in one of my 10 decks. This forces me to use different methods of card draw and resource generation.

I do include different cards of the same unique character in different decks. (Ex. Haldir of Lórien hero in my Scout deck and Haldir of Lórien ally in my Silvan deck.)

Dale Deck:

Dale Decks focus on attaching lots of low costing attachments on as many characters as possible.

Attachments:

Because of the card advantage that comes from Brand son of Bain lots of attachments are included in this deck. Since this card advantage only comes when attaching an attachment to "a Dale character without an attachment" I decided to include many temporary attachments (Thrór's Key, Grappling Hook, Spare Hood and Cloak, and Cram). These attachments allow you to draw a card, use the card, and you still have a character open for a different attachment. If all three of your heroes already have a permanent attachment (via Magic Ring, Windfola, King of Dale, and Celebrían's Stone), you can still make use of these cards through King of Dale or using them for their actual special power.

Windfola and Celebrían's Stone really help with Willpower. With just a few characters, I would find myself questing for a lot more than I expected through these attachments (Windfola giving either Bard son of Brand or Lanwyn the power to quest for 4!, 5 with Celebrían's Stone)

The rest of the attachments are pretty straightforward. Bow of Yew on Warrior of Dale, Hauberk of Mail on Redwater Sentry, etc. Spare Hood and Cloak works tremendously with North Realm Lookout, since she will almost always be ready at the end of the phase. The best part is with Long Lake Trader you can move the Spare Hood and Cloak back on North Realm Lookout, giving you this action advantage every turn!

Do not be afraid to play attachments on eligible characters, even if that attachment wasn't meant for that character (Ex: Bow of Yew on North Realm Lookout, when Warrior of Dale is not out). With three copies of Long Lake Trader, you should have no problem moving those attachments around, and the extra card is to valuable to pass up.

Events:

Traffic from Dale is an auto-include usually giving you at least 6 resources by turn 3 or so. I usually find myself giving Bard son of Brand the resources so she can play the numerous item attachments or plop out a few allies.

Well Warned gives you or whoever needs it some defense against the ever ominous threat dial. And To Arms! is a last resort, in case you need to one more Warrior of Dale to finish off an enemy or and extra Redwater Sentry for defense.

Allies:

Redwater Sentry becomes an absolute beast with Hauberk of Mail attached, and can boost even more with Raiment of War! Warrior of Dale, on the other hand, takes care of attack through Bow of Yew. Remember that you can only attach either Raiment of War or Bow of Yew to Warrior of Dale because of the the 2 restricted attachments Raiment of War takes up. Therefore, Raiment of War usually falls to Redwater Sentry. All the other allies are questers.

I find myself not engaging enemies very often. Leaving that job to my teammates, who, frequently have a better starting defending hero than a 2 Dale Hero. Instead, defending and attacking through my Sentinels and Ranged characters.

Many will notice my exclusion of Knight of Dale. Costing 4+ throughout the game for a 2-2-1 ally, the Knight, for me, doesn't seem to be worth the resources. Without ranged or sentinel and my strategy of having others engage enemies while I attack and defend from afar, I rarely used his special power. Therefore, he becomes a 4 costing 2 willpower ally, which I opted out for a less expensive, same willpower Celduin Traveler and Rhovanion Outrider.

Opening Hand:

The only card you are looking for in your opening hand is King of Dale. If you see it, keep the hand. So far I have found that every opening hand is solid. Just play attachments to cycle through your deck to the particular cards you need that turn.

Thanks!
