A Mono-Leadership Gondor (well, mostly) swarm deck that I used with good success against Flight of the Stormcaller.
Denethor gets:
- Dúnedain Warnings
- Steward of Gondor
- Rod of the Steward
- Visionary Leadership if you're short on resources, as you can always leave one on Denethor and then move it to Boromir during the combat phase.
In Service of the Steward is for Balin, so you can pass resources to him for shadow cancellation, and to get the +1 from Visionary Leadership.
More than once I've managed to get 6 allies into play on the first round with a combination of A Very Good Tale, Herald of Anórien (from hand) and Envoy of Pelargir netting me an extra resource to play with. If you get a Tome of Atanatar then even better!
Strength of Arms has been a game-winner for me, being able to commit characters to sailing + questing and then have everyone ready to attack makes for a huge round.
The deck is a little light on card draw. Rod does help, as does Gandalf but once I came to my senses and went with the Dawn Star (extra card per resource phase for 3 threat, or the 'Bilbo Boat' as I like to call it) that shouldn't be a problem for this quest.

Jul 20, 2016Herald of Anórien is so good in this style of deck. I like how you use Balin here to cover for one of Gondor's weaknesses (shadow cancelation). |
Jul 22, 2016Thanks for the nice comments guys. :) Something that would probably help with card draw that's only just occurred to me is King Under the Mountain. I think I was probably too focused on the Gondor theme to consider it. |
Very good and powerfull deck. Cheers
