SubwayTolkien 125
This is a deck built with the cards through Voice of Isengard and also the Saga Expansions.
The idea here is to make Eomer a combat machine and getting Éowyn and Théoden to do the heavy lifting with questing.
Opening Hand: You really want Golden Shield and Steward of Gondor who goes on Eomer to help pay for his ability. Next on the list is Snowmane and Steed of the Mark to help you heroes start to get off and running.
Meat of the game: You don't want to be spending Eomers resources on anything but his ability and readying him using Steed of the Mark. The Captains of the West and A Good Harvest are really meant to help use his resources should you find Eomer accumulating resources.
Using Theoden's ability, you should also be throwing out allies with ease and using the Westfold Horse-breeder to help find mounts should you not get them in your opening hand.
End Game: Your ideal scenarios are -
You have Snowmane, Herugrim AND Gúthwinë on Théoden who is now a questing and attack monster.
Eowyn has one the Steed of the Mark and Golden Shield who can now quest and defend every turn.
Finally Éomer has 2 Spear of the Mark, a Steed of the Mark AND Steward of Gondor which allows him to attack any enemies in the staging area and then ready OR defend/attack if the enemies are revealed during the encounter phase.
This is definitely a work in progress but would love suggestions as I continued to learn and build out!

Nov 15, 2020in my experience: these rohandiscardshenanigans are only good with lothiriel (+eomer). if you pay regularily, in the most cases its to expensive to discard the allies for discardmatters. take helm helm you have to pay the ally then the card, thats at minimum 3 res and 2 cards for discarding 1 ally. for that you can get 2 allies with adds at least 3 points permanently to willpower or attack or a mixture. charge of the rohirim i never used. its to much effors first get enough horses and then have that card. BUT if you play a whole fellowship of rohan (3-4 decks rohanrelated), then this card can really shine. |
What is your experience with the Rohan events Charge of the Rohirrim and Helm! Helm!. even when I put them in a deck I never end up plying them? My gut feeling would be to remove them for some card draw or threat reduction. The deck already has lots of combat option, it probably doesn't need an expensive trick like Helm! Helm!.
