One half of a power pair designed to exploit one of the cheesiest combos still allowed in the game: the Wandering Took/Song of EƤrendil combo. For those unfamiliar: http://www.cardgamedb.com/index.php/index.html/_/lord-of-the-rings/of-combos-and-men-3-all-your-threat-are-belong-r255
Essentially, with one of the Songs attached to Glorfindel and one Took in play, this allows an action-speed, 1-for-1 soaking of another player's threat. Do this in the refresh phase, then you can immediately trigger Loragorn's action to reset your threat. This typically leads to a total threat reduction on the order of 20 in one fell swoop.
(This could be boosted even more with Elrond's Counsel or Favor of the Valar, but my Counsels are tied up in the deck I pair this with.)
To maximize Vilya's efficiency, most of the deck -- everything except the duplicate uniques -- is a viable Vilya target. Where are the Lights of Valinor or Imladris Stargazers endemic to the archetype? Again, in the other deck: http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/17
