DECK NAME - I Hate Snakes

Deck strategy is pretty obvious. Block with Fastred and return enemies to the staging area for Dúnhere to pick off.

  1. Dúnhere - Attach 2 restricted weapons to increase his attack to 7 against enemies in the staging area. Spear of the Mark is preferred but Dagger of Westernesse also does the trick if you keep your threat below 28. 7 attack kills everything but Southron Captain or a Southron Champion. Attach your third copy of Unexpected Courage to Dùnhere if you get to it. Not necessary really.

  2. Fastred - Attach Raiment of War asap, Captain of Gondor, and 2 copies of Unexpected Courage. Block enemies and use your ability to lower threat and return them to the staging area.

  3. Éowyn - Starting the game with her setup ability means a starting threat of 23. Her second ability can be used against Black Serpent to end the game OR sometimes you have to engage a buffed enemy early to clear the board. There are cases (especially later) where you don't want to quest with Éowyn so that you can exhaust her to travel to Roofless Tower. Attach Windfola for an extra willpower boost.

  4. Ents - These guys provide a helpful Archery soak. If you can get Treebeard out on turn 2 that's gold. Use his resources to pay for Beechbone and obviously Wellinghall Preserver more than for readying. Treebeard acts as a backup defender if you're having trouble getting to your copies of Unexpected Courage.

  5. Honour Guard - so helpful for keeping Fastred healthy. Negates archery damage too. Use you 2nd and 3rd copies of Raiment of War to make these guys even more helpful against archery.

  6. Questing allies - I haven't had to chump block yet, but these guys can definitely help in a pinch. I have tried to get Bofur in my opening hand and fail the first quest purposefully to get him on the cheap. Arwen Undómiel helps Fastred.

  7. Threat reduction - Fastred and Elrond's Counsel (assuming Arwen is out) should keep you below 28.

  8. Card draw - Ancient Mathom and Foe-hammer keep your options open.

Good starting cards:
