Pirate Brahm 1062
This is a steed & song deck, designed to get triple action advantage out of its heroes. Théoden quests for 3 upon Snowmane, defends with his Armored Destrier, and then swings back with Herugrim for 6, thanks to his boost from Elfhelm. With a Song of Kings, he can defend for 3 and call in Reinforcements from enters/leaves play allies for card draw and additional action advantage.
Erkenbrand is one of my favorite defenders in the game. The release of Elfhelm and Armored Destrier makes him even more powerful. Double up the Armored Destriers on him to set up a defense worthy of Helm's Deep, and he'll even have time for a counter attack. Shadow cards? Pah. Also remember that Steed of the Mark isn't restricted. Put Erk on 3 horses at once if you feel like it!
Elfhelm, with his 2/2/2 spread, also benefits from triple action advantage and song bonuses saddled upon Steed of the Mark and a Song of Travel on his lips.
A few Unexpected Courages are tossed in to keep the heroes readying. Mulligan for Steward of Gondor or a song to keep the resources smooth while you set up.
This deck pairs well with one that has healing: http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/1870/lost-in-the-forest-2.0 or http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/2154/down-the-shore-down-the-shore-2-0-2.0 for example.

Jul 26, 2016Thanks teamjimby! You should check out this deck for some added Tactics: ringsdb.com |
Jul 26, 2016Thanks teamjimby! I have made a deck similar to the one you mentioned, and it does play well. I ended up having a few useless cards in my hand until Song of Battle came out, but it did turn Theoden into a real killer, especially paired with Erkenbrand's defense. |
Jul 27, 2016It looks like a very consistent and funny deck, but all my attemps on a Rohan deck have the same problem... lack of reliable card drawing effects. If steward of Gondor shows early, in a few rounds you should be playing the card you just draw, without any cards in hand, I am right? |
Jul 27, 2016Thanks wehehe. Yes, I have come across the same problem with card draw in previous Rohan decks, notably my Spirit/Tactics attempts at Rohan. This deck leans heavily on ally Gandalf for card draw, and with the addition of Leadership, cards like Sneak Attack and Reinforcements makes sure that he hits the table more than three times per game. The extra resources from Steward also makes playing him from hand a little more practical. For additional card draw, I may consider putting Valiant Sacrifice, Ancient Mathom, or A Very Good Tale into future revisions. Rod of the Steward relies too heavily on Steward of Gondor hitting the table first, so I'd pass on that idea. I normally play two-handed solo, so I usually pair this deck off with one that has some card draw (I've found that a Noldor deck with Galadriel and ally Elrond provides just the support to match this deck's weaknesses in healing, card draw, and threat mitigation.) |
Aug 28, 2016I splashed some tactics into this deck. Check out: ringsdb.com |
Oct 14, 2019How does Erkenbrand surprise attacks by enemies with 6 or more attack? The Dunedain Remedy can only keep him alive so long, surely? (Let's assume for argument that at the moment, he doesn't have other allies to chump block with) He seems he can get maximum 4 defense here, right? |
Nice deck. Have you thought about adding Song of Battle and Rohan Warhorse? Assuming you put the Destriers on Erkenbrand, Theoden should have an extra restricted slot for a warhorse. That would let him attack twice for 4, or 7 with Herugrim.
