Thematic Saga Series: Deck 12

The Passage of the Marshes

Series Overview

Welcome to the Thematic Saga Series, where I will be taking the most thematic decks possible against a modified Saga Campaign, on DragnCards. Here are the rules for this Campaign:

1: Your decks must be as accurate as possible to the books. So in A Shadow of the Past's case, because it takes place in the Shire, I will only be using Hobbit allies.

2: I am allowed to change heroes to fit the theme and I will not be incurring the +1 threat penalty while swapping heroes this way. For example, if I used an ally version of Legolas or Gimli in The Breaking of the Fellowship, I could swap heroes so I can us them as heroes in The Uruk-Hai.

I follow the rest of the rules for a standard Campaign.

The Theme

This one is rough! For thematic purposes, I have to do Frodo and Sam without Allies! That's hard. I know that these Hobbits were not singing songs while they were crossing the Dead Marshes, but the deck has to be able to win.

I should just leave these Frodo and Sam scenarios to doomguard and his Sam the Brave deck.

Game Notes

I had to play this scenario twice, the first game I made it pretty far only to be swamped by enemies, and in the second game I was got swarmed by enemies again. Luckily I got Fast Hitches and Hobbit Cloak out fairly early, so I was able to defend for a while. I killed a few enemies, (Small Target helped wit that) and when I finally got Smeagol flipped I was able to immediately advance. Stage 2 didn't take long, and at stage 3 I was able to kill the Undead enemy I had engaged pretty quickly. after that, questing with Fireside Song was simple.

My score was 180:

30 Threat,

15 Rounds,

2 Victory Points.

Boons Earned: None.

Burdens Earned: The Searching Eye.

Hope you enjoy! Next, I will have to ambush some Haradrim!

Do you trigger grey wanderer on fast hitch? I could see a situation where you draw into one copy of friend of friends and fetch the other.

@Jtothemac, What I use the Grey Wanderer on varies. It depends on what is in your hand. If I had a Friend of Friends I would probably search for the second copy.

@doomguard thanks! Yeah I decided that the Hobbits didn't get any signal lessons from Strider this time (:
