The Thematic Saga continues with Shelob's Lair

In this series I am trying to use as many thematic cards as possible as I play the Lord of the Rings Saga quests in order, in a modified campaign mode. The modification is that I will not be raising my threat if I swap heroes in-between quests

The dynamic duo of Sam Gamgee and Frodo Baggins are guided by Gollum up the path of Cirth Ungol and into the deep dark tunnel of Shelob.

Sam will indeed need to be brave! Wielding Sting, a Staff of Lebethron, Hobbit Cloak, and his love of his master, he will take on the deadly enemy.

A quick thrust from an Unseen Strike, and then a heroic yell of Taste it Again! by this brave hobbit will have to be enough to once again save Frodo, because he was stabbed. Again. For the third time.

Yes, this is another The Grey Wanderer Sam deck as we thematically square off against Shelob. This is a very difficult quest, especially with just Sam and Frodo. Three copies of Master of the Forge are needed to help draw ALL the attachments you need. No other card is more important in your opening hand. Especially because you will most likely be discarding cards at the end of stage 1.

Power up the Tower of Sam with Fireside Song and other songs to get his in double digits. He needs the cloak and staff to defend Shelob every quest phase. Frodo will need a Dagger of Westernesse or 2 to help with combat. Make sure you get a Song of Battle in play so Unseen Strike and Hail of Stones can be used. Also, Power of Orthanc is very much needed if you get poisoned.

Get through stage 1 as fast as possible. Try to keep resources off the spider and knock them off with Sting and Hail of Stones while on stage 3.
