DECK NAME - The Ents Are Strong

OVERVIEW - Threat reduction, card draw, and Ents. How awesome is that?!

HEROES

  • Folco Boffin - use his ability if needed, but I usually just keep him the entire time
  • Merry - attach 2nd Resourceful and Fast Hitch so you can quest with him and join in attacking
  • Pippin - attach 2X Resourceful; card draw is strong here

STRATEGY

  • OPENING HAND - Resourceful, Quickbeam, Treebeard, and various card draw events are what you're looking for. Play Resourceful on Pippin and Quickbeam if possible turn 1. Treebeard turn 2.
  • SET UP - select Contested Square as the starting staging area location
  • THANE ULCHOR - add locations instead of taking his attack until you have Derndingle Warrior w Ent Draught to block
  • ARCHERY DAMAGE - your hobbits will survive a round with the 3 archery damage from Makeshift Fortification but be sure to prepare for a possible archery enemy being added to the staging area; much better to spam ents and take damage early than to put out Warden of Healing
  • HEALING - important to control damage in this quest. Try and live with 1 damage on each ent to boost Booming Ent's attack
  • CARD DRAW - My favorite thing about this deck is the insane card draw. I have drawn into close to 15 cards during the first planning phase.
  • COMBAT CANCELLATION - 3X Feint and 2X Gaffer Gamgee negate all but Ulchor's attacks
  • THREAT REDUCTION - usually don't have to discard Folco for his effect
  • SPAM ENTS - archery soak and eventually you get ahead of the encounter deck
