Gerrymander 142

Here's another Strider deck with a distinct Noldor theme. This time around, CĂrdan the Shipwright is Strider!

With Cirdan and Arwen as the two heros of choice, the first instinct would be to go full on Noldor archetype. However, the reliance of this style of deck on discards is rather worrying, as you can become very likely to discard some of your key cards. There is a bit of a discard engine already in place (Arwen, Glorfindel, Guradian of Rivendell and Cirdan's ability) to help stuff your discard with Elven-light, thus helping speed up drawing all your key cards. With the action advantage of questing both Cirdan and Arwen (loaded with Light of Valinor) and no exhausting, you can use Cirdan/Narya very effectively to help boost attacks or defense as needed (which tends to be this deck's weakness) and Arwen for a bit of extra defense or attack when needed (Unexpected Courage) can help with this even more).

Another neat combo is Celduin Traveler and Resourceful with Vanish from Sight. With all the card draw in this deck, you shouldn't have much trouble finding it!

Bolstered with the typical aToW, HS, and Will of the West for discard recycling, this actually makes for a fairly potent deck.

Enjoy!

Looks like you and me love Strider decks! I thought of using Arwen in a strider deck as well, still working on it though. Keep watch in about a week if you want to see it.

Look forward to setting it! There are a ton of really interesting deck design choices to make with strider, as a bunch of heroes can be helpful in both the questing and combat phase but don't get to help every round unless they are loaded up with unexpected courage. Treebeard was a great example but there are surely others!

Strider decks are so much fun to play. Being able to start at or near secrecy allows for that under the radar type feel, and yet they definitely can be powerful in the right setup. Solid Strider deck!
