I really love Eagles and I also really love Rohan so I decided to combine two of my favorite things with The Last Alliance contract. The result is spectacular. Hooves and Talons tearing through enemies with shocking efficiency. I can just imagine the Rohirrim and Eagles working together to cause chaos among enemy forces. Not knowing whether to defend the attack from the sky or the attack from beside them, they quickly fall to our feathered and bridled friends.

Admittedly, this deck is better suited to multiplayer since it's a bit light in the questing department. With a few changes I think it could work just fine for solo though.

Getting Théoden's cost reduction in addition to the contract's means you are often netting 2 resources a round. Faunith usually quests as does Théoden once he gets Snowmane. Éomer is one of my favorite heroes (partially due to his stellar art) and works great with Eagles leaving play all the time. Once he has Firefoot and Support of the Eagles he is a combat machine. I also included a copy of Tireless Thoroughbred which is way too fun in multiplayer not to include.

What I really love about this deck is all the interesting things you can do with the contract. You can use it to:

  • discount Eagles with Theoden's ability. With the contract discount this will let you play a first turn Eagles of the Misty Mountains.
  • play a Rohan ally with Faunith's ability.
  • find an eagle (usually RotMM) with Mustering the Rohirrim.
  • attach Rohan allies that leave play to EotMM.
  • target both Eagle and Rohan allies with The Muster of Rohan. You can even use the action window at the end of the refresh phase to attach all those allies to EotMM! This has to be my favorite thing to do with the contract! A game changing turn plus a quick power up of EotMM.
  • find Rohan and Eagle allies with The Eagles Are Coming!.
  • reduce the cost to play Need Brooks No Delay to 1.
  • trigger Hidden Roosts when a Rohan ally leaves play
  • trigger Morwen Steelsheen's abilities with Eagle allies. There are so many great things to use the contract for, the decision about what card to use it on makes for some really interesting decisions.

The main goal of this deck is to get out EotMM as quickly as possible and pile attachments on him. At that point he becomes the main defender of the deck. Winged Guardian and Wilyador make great defenders as well and Westfold Horse-breeder makes a great chump.

A few other random notes: The main targets for Need Brooks No Delay are the 3-cost unique Rohan allies, though Firefoot or Tireless Thoroughbred are great targets as well. Morwen Steelsheen is included for some healing, though she tends to eat up the contract exhausts if you're using her very much. If I was going to drop her I'd probably add another copy of Éomund since you could use the contract to ready all Eagle or Rohan characters. Sideboards are there depending on quest needs.

take Thengel instead of Éomer, and you will get more allies faster.

I think I'd sub out Theoden before Eomer for Thengel. I'm not sure how well that would work though with the allies split between two traits with no overlap.
