Wolves 33

A deck using three heroes with 4 in a stat. Not really a challenge to get a working deck with those I assume, but they do encompass some of my favourite heroes in the game (I'm sorry Denethor).

Having broken my head over a number of choices, just before posting, I searched the decklists for a similar setup and found copies of this deck with pretty much the same cards as I use, albeit with some minor differences (that's something at least). Despite this slam in the face and diminishing my pride for posting this deck, I'll give it my best to explain my choices and I would honestly enjoy any feedback to perfect this deck, for it is my current main deck for playing both solo and multiplayer.

I have to say that I'm still fairly new to the game and I only have one core set. Furthermore, I play this game more often in multiplayer than not and usually with another friend who uses an effective dwarf deck and another friend who put a bunch of very strong cards together and called it a deck (Elrond, Vilya, Galadriel, Aragorn, Treebeard, Steward of Gondor etc.) Obviously, this makes building a deck a bit more challenging. Anyway, enough with the introduction. Let's go:

With Eowyn's setup, you effectively start at 28 threat, which is solid. The stat line is just great: 8 will power for questing and beregond as a defender... it's almost impossible to start sturdier than that. However, it does lack attacking power. Sure, Cirdan has 2 attack power, but without support that will hardly clear the board. It's actually useful to use Eowyn's it-looks-like-its-that-time-of-the-month ability early on to clear a nasty setup enemy or otherwise anoying enemy. Once the deck is rolling, she'll refrain from fighting anyway.

Cirdan's card draw ability also ups the probability of getting that one card in your first hand (I prefer Silver Harp above Narya) so I feel it also justifies the fact thtat the deck has 52 cards ;).

As stated, Silver Harp is my personal preferable card in my hand, with Gondorian Shield closely behind. After that, Light of Valinor is great on Cirdan, especially once you get Narya. It will allow him to use that hefty 4 will power in questing and still be able to activate his ring.

Card draw: This deck has quite a bit of card draw thanks to Cirdan, Legolas (which can be used twice with Narya) and Elven-light, which is just golden with ally Glorfindel.

Resource acceleration: I've tested this deck with Steward of Gondor and obviously, that worked fantastic! On a personal note, I REALLY hope that they will errata the card to the version of John Constantine https://www.flickr.com/photos/146910575@N03/sets/72157673542749223/. I sincerely think that it will balance the card out a bit, while keeping it deliciously good. On a second note, as mentioned above, my friend uses Steward of Gondor already, so I needed to have a back-up plan. Having access to Leadership through Narya, I can use The Day's Rising on beregond, this will net me with a resource AND 1 less threat on a succesful block, which is awesome! Having said that, it's not as solid as Steward and if I play multiplayer with it, I'll probably include Horn of Gondor. Especially the dwarven deck has a way with chump blocking, which could benefit my resources. Errand-riders ensures that the goodies are transferred where needed.

Defence is further enhanced by Defender of Rammas, although honestly, I'm still in doubt if Guardian of Rivendell isn't better for this deck. I have quite a bit of excessive uniques, and ally Glorfindel can be played from the discard pile so even your first copy could be easily discarded, and apart from Glorfindel, I have no other cards to make use of Elven-light consistently. Raiment of War makes a tank of any of these two allies and the higher attack and will power of the Guardian over the Defender gives me headaches when trying to decide who will be my dedicated defender ally. Although the cost of the Guardian is one higher, it's also neutral which makes him easier to pay for with three heroes instead of one.

Attacking is done by Azain, Legolas and Glorfindel who can all be readied with Nanya and a single discard of Elven-light. This will give you a max of 2 extra cards, a potential 4 extra damage divided amonsgt one or two enemies (Azain) and a whopping 20 attack power unmodded for attachments or Dain who makes a monster of Azain. I also have Dúnedain Hunters but despite being awesome, I would like to have more ranged in my deck when playing multiplayer... In this respect, Galadhon Archer, Marksman of Lórien or Trollshaw Scout could be better options.

Last but not least, this deck doesn't have any shadow cancellation, which is a first for me... however, I've tried Desperate Defense a few times now and it is utterly amazing so far. With Beregond you really want to make use of his threat reduction each round. With The Day's Rising you can even get the resource cost back on a succesful block, but most importantly is the readying effect which allows Beregond to defend twice which is godly.

Well, that's about it. Kuddo's if you made it this far reading it, and I apologise for my lengthy description, I just really really love discussing this game :D

In the sideboard are several cards which I either like to use in multiplayer or I feel just didn't make the final cut. I'm very curious if any of you guys has some different view on this deck and I really wish if someone could help me with the Defender vs Guardian dilemma.

My apologies for the Link, it appears it doesn't work. In any case, it concerns a suggestion for changing Steward of Gondor that it costs 1 instead of 2 leadership resources, comes into play tapped, doesn't provide the Gondor trait anymore and gives only one resource for the attached hero upon exhaustion unless the hero has the Gondor or Noble trait, in which case he still adds 2 resources.
