Ancalagon 1

A Silvan deck that succeeds pretty well against Road to Rivendell, solo.

As usual, the main key is to get Henamarth Riversong out ASAP. Then you can tune your questing perfectly for what the encounter deck will throw at you. Use his ability after enemy attacks to see what's coming next round:

  • If a Black Uruk, you can hold back Celeborn from questing, if he has attachments;
  • if Sleeping Sentry, quest those with more than one hit point remaining, and try to kill of any remaining enemies engaged with you;
  • If Followed by Night, consider leaving one enemy engaged, if you don't want to deal one damage to all allies;

In general, not a bad idea to leave an Orc enemy in the staging area at all times, to blunt the impact of Orc Ambush. Not too hard to do that, between Galadriel's ability and Elrond's Counsel.

Other notes:

  • Ancestral Armor, The Elvenking, and the second Unexpected Courage go on Thranduil, who is your primary defender;
  • Light of Valinor, the first Unexpected Courage, and the second Ancestral Armor go on Celeborn;
  • I usually put O Lorien and Nenya (of course) on Galadriel, and the third Unexpected Courage, if it shows up;
  • Don't defend with allies if you can possibly help it, unless you want to take an attack undefended (Undisturbed Bones is lurking in the encounter deck);
  • I wait to bring RĂºmil out until I have three other ranged characters already in play, and a Mountain Warg in the staging area. Then I simply discard the Mountain Wargs;
  • I primarily use Galadriel to lower threat/draw a card, rarely using her bump; and
  • I love to play Host of Galadhrim when I get to the last quest card, barging through to the end of the game.
