Wizenedstaff 30
This deck was mainly built at first around the idea of making Theodred work! I've never really used him, but he fits well here! I also wanted to make Celeborn and Thranduil work together, as my attempt with Tactics Legolas was a failure. So here we imagine that Theoden's short-lived firstborn son got to go on an adventure that united the elves of Mirkwood for a time! This deck tries to do a number of things. It focuses on Leadership's strengths of readying (Naith Guide, Greenwood Archer, Grim Resolve, Cram and Need Drives Them) and resource acceleration (O Lórien!, Elf Guide, Man the Walls and Galadriel) to allow for rapid building of a board state. Theodred synergises well with the Silvan lords, as Celeborn's ability incentivises ally-playing and Thranduil's second planning phase in combat means Theodred's quest phase resource generation doesn't feel nearly as speculative. I had one of my most enjoyable ever wins against Conflict at the Carrock with this deck. Henamarth Riversong proved very useful here, and in general in this deck treacheries can be a disaster so it is worth mitigating against them. The deck does quite well for card draw, with Campfire Tales, Valiant Sacrifice, A Very Good Tale and Messenger Raven). This last was a very interesting experience, as I dug desperately and successfully for Gandalf. If you need one particular card to come up in the next few rounds, it's quite a useful ally! Host of Galadhrim is of course fun, but the most enjoyable thing was putting Path of Need on the Carrock and wrestling with the trolls!
