The story that follows is NOT Tolkien canon. That would be ridiculous.
The Backstory
In an alternate universe, where King Thengel was still alive at the time of his grandson's wedding, Éomer and Lothíriel were a happy couple. But Éomer did not trust his wife to venture alone. So wherever she went, he sent Escorts with her, along with his trusted captain Gamling. Along the way, as the Escorts departed, Gamling would convince them to stay on the promise that more friends would join them. And together, the happy couple and their grandfather rode off on their horses into the sunset, wasting no time. The End.
The Main Combo
Lothíriel brings an Escort from Edoras into play, who quests for 4, gets discarded, is returned to hand by Gamling, and musters an ally from Thengel.
Opening Hand
In a perfect world, you want to see both Escort from Edoras and Need Brooks No Delay in your starting hand. Gamling is good to see as well, though it is best if Need Brooks No Delay gets him into play. Light-footed Steed, Golden Shield, and Horn of the Mark are all useful cards in this deck.
Ways to set up the Combo
Escort from Edoras in hand and Need Brooks No Delay fetching Gamling Gamling in hand and Mustering the Rohirrim or Need Brooks No Delay fetching Escort from Edoras Other combinations of Gamling, Escort from Edoras, Need Brooks No Delay, Mustering the Rohirrim, The Muster of Rohan.
Questing
This deck is VERY good at questing. Imagine that Lothíriel has 7 . That's what this deck does. Lothíriel, Escort from Edoras, and many other allies carry the questing.
Defending
Thengel is our main defender, getting boosted with Golden Shield. He can also quest if you have Light-footed Steed. Grimbold can also block attacks if you get overwhelmed, and chumping is always viable.
Attacking
Éomer attacks for 5 every turn, and can be boosted to 7 with Firefoot. Cards such as War Axe, Westfold Outrider, and Westfold Lancer can help attack as well.
Other Tricks
Wait no Longer helps if you are getting location locked, or even if you just want to know what you will see this round. The Muster of Rohan can set up a bomb turn of YOLO questing or even just getting out of a swarm.
Summary
This deck is very strong and lots of fun to play. It works great in solo, and even better in multiplayer (few unique conflicts outside of another Rohan deck). I used it for this week's quest of the week, The Black Serpent, found at https://visionofthepalantir.com/ (It's not posted yet). Thanks for reading my write-up, and happy Escorting!
