Hey everyone,
Chris here with a new secrecy deck to share with you all. And we're going in a very different direction from most of my secrecy builds.
The two heroes, Arwen Undómiel and Éowyn, start us off with a ton of willpower. And we're going to be using Light of Valinor and Strider to help us use their combat stats, too.
The ultimate goal is Eowyn with Strider and a Golden Shield to take the hits. And Arwen with Light of Valinor and a pair of Rivendell Blades to help us clear out bigger enemies.
Strategy:
What you're really looking for in your opening hand is either multiple key attachments or Elven-light. Card draw is at a bit of a premium with these spheres, so starting out with it is a big boost. Ancient Mathom and The White Council are also both pretty good for drawing early if you need it, but not quite on the same level.
Speaking of The White Council, it has a particularly strong synergy with Éowyn in this deck. Golden Shield is only useful for one attack each round, but Eowyn's combat boost lasts an entire phase. So you can ready her and swing at a couple of enemies.
Another fun pairing to pay attention to is Celduin Traveler and Dúnedain Hunter. Celduin Traveler allows you to avoid a location off the top of the encounter deck, but can't really do much if you see an enemy instead. Which is where the hunter comes in, allowing you the option of pulling that enemy off the top. Or, even if it's a treachery, the Hunter's effect will shuffle the encounter deck for you.
Video Thoughts:
This week's video is this deck vs The Hunt For Gollum. I haven't played that quest in such a long time.
And my opening hand is miserable. By far the slowest start for this deck that I've ever had. But things do eventually get rolling. The deck has a lot of combat potential, and the card draw does get pretty good when you get Legolas and an Elven-light rolling.
And I've beaten the Hunt for Gollum with this deck, multiple times! But not this time. I might have been able to turn it around, if not for the shadow effect that ended the game.
Even still, though. Two encounter cards per round is pretty rough for a solo scenario.
Thanks for watching!

Especially when the deck has so few actual secrecy cards. |
Apr 26, 2018Sure but you can also spend Folco's resource on Strider. You can send him in the quest. And you could put 1 damage on him before discarding him. Sorry this is my blind love for Folco who is speaking X) |
Nice Strider deck! Why dont you play Folco Boffin? Even if its just for the -1 threat he's worth it!
