This is an updated version of my first deck featuring Thurindir and Beorn. With the release of The Withered Heath, we get Beorn's Rage, which is a great card for this deck.
The idea of the deck is to fetch Keep Watch with Thurindir, and try to complete it as soon as possible. The first rounds, Beorn should be your main defender and attacker, supported by the side quest, Honour Guard's, Entangling Nets and Beorn's Rage to keep him alive.
Once you have Keep Watch in your victory display, you should get a Vigilant DĂșnadan, which will help Beorn in both defense and attack. Also, by the midgame, you should be able to put a Landroval into play, for restoring Beorn's health.
Another tool to keep Beorn alive is Dori, but, as it is a little expensive, you normally won't be able to put it into play until mid or late game.
Most of other allies are there for their willpower. Your heroes can quest for 6 since round 1, and you can play a Steward of Orthanc to increase this to 8 if you really need that WP.
The deck is working quite well, though I think there is a lot of space for improving it yet.

Sep 19, 2018Beorn's rage doesn't affect Beorn, it affects the enemy he is defending. |
Sep 19, 2018Correct! Sorry for that! |
Sep 19, 2018I have a similar deck with Glorfindel in place of Eowyn, which gives access to Hasty Stroke and Vigilant Guard. But I really like your version and will give it a try. |
Oct 18, 2018Really nice list, I've just built something similar, would a vigilant guard not be better than Dori? You can stick it on Honour Guard and just eat up the hits. I've put Azain and Derningdale warrior in as alternative targets. Also, have you considered long defeat over Warden of Healing? Given you have the quests, a long defeat gives benefits to other players too. |
Oct 18, 2018Didn't considered Vigilant guard. I always forget that it can be played on allies. It may be worth to try it, as Dori is really difficult to play with just Thurindir providing lore resources. About Long defeat... I don't think so. Warden is so versatile, and it also allows you to heal multiple times if you acumulate lore resources. Long defeat is too restricted in my opinion, as you need to have the secondary side quest in play whenever you need the heal. |
Beorn's Rage cannot be used on Beorn, he is immune to player card effects.
