Have you ever wanted to play a deck that just wrecks enemies and lets someone else worry about boring old questing?
Have you ever wanted to go mono-tactics and still draw almost your entire deck most games?
Have you ever wanted Beregond to defend at upwards of 14 defense?
Have you ever wanted Legolas to blow up enemies with over 20 attack? Twice per round? And make 5 progress per round at the same time? While riding a horse, an eagle, and another horse?
If you answered yes to the above questions, then this deck is you. It's my attempt at a multiplayer mono-tactics deck that doesn't worry about questing and instead tries to maximize Support of the Eagles.
Beregond is your defender,Legolas is your attacker, but Háma is your linchpin. He provides the deck acceleration that enables you to play mono-tactics and you should use his ability every turn.
Your first priority target for Hama's ability is Foe-hammer. If you get the combo going you should be using Foe-Hammer every combat phase. That's 4 cards drawn every round, 7 on turns that you play the event twice. If you have a weapon but not Foe-Hammer (or vice-versa) use Gather Information to pull it out of your deck (Bofur also helps with this).
Your second priority target, until you get Foe-Hammer, is The Eagles Are Coming!. The more eagles you can filter out of your deck, the better your Foe-Hammer draws will be. (Warning: You will be angry every time you hit Support of the Eagles and remember that it's not actually an eagle card).
Third priority, if the scenario is tough (or you have no more cards in your deck), is Feint.
A word on the attachments: Beragond gets Raven-winged Helm, Gondorian Shield, Horn of Gondor, and one copy of Support of the Eagles. Legolas gets Rohan Warhorse, Rivendell Blade, Rivendell Bow, Arod, Black Arrow, and two copies of Support of the Eagles. If you draw into Elf-friend (which you should) you can play your extra copies of Rivendell Blade and Bow on Hama to make him a better attacker and make it easier to trigger his ability, but it's not necessary.
Try to play Radagast early, then Eagles of the Misty Mountains, and then your other eagles. Remember that Horn of Gondor only triggers on allies being destroyed now (instead of just leaving play) but you'll be throwing most of your eagles under Orc shaped busses anyways in order to get them under the Eagles of the Misty Mountains.
All the cheap allies, Behind Strong Walls, and Feint are usually enough to defend most attacks around the table, but it doesn't hurt if another player generously gives Beregond some Unexpected Courage or some Lembas.

Oct 18, 2016Can Beregond really wear the shield and helm at the same time? Isn't it only one armor attachment at a time? |

I share in the Support of the Eagles love! I just published a fellowship where it's the featured card. All those people who said eagle decks were dead when Horn of Gondor was errata'ed... Just straight up wrong, as your great decklist is testament to.
Question for you: how have you found The Eagles Are Coming!? My deck build runs even a few more eagles than yours, but I still find myself constantly whiffing with that card; I find myself wondering whether it's worth the deck slot.
