Concept

Nothing really new, here. I was building a new, updated Gondor swarm deck with (MotK) Faramir but realized pretty early on in the process that the lack of card draw would be a major issue. So I went with Gildor Inglorion to ameliorate that problem, and the 3 starting also helps tremendously.

Deckbuilding

This part isn't very exciting, either, but I was thinking of building with a relatively new player in mind who had experience with card games. Originally, again to help with the draw problem (as Rod of the Steward is too slow and screws up tempo too much), I wanted to go with Pillars of the Kings, but I quickly realized that handing this deck to a newer player and saying, "Hey, deal with a 12-threat raise at the beginning of the game" was a tall order. Instead, I ended up just cramming it full of my favorite cards with some gradual raise due to Herald of Anórien (a personal favorite) and Horns! Horns! Horns! (a card I only recently came around on, tbh, despite its obvious power level).

Some might want to squeeze in a second copy of Faramir and/or Angbor the Fearless, which is fine, but I don't think they're entirely necessary anymore for this archetype to be successful. Reinforcements is in there for the fun factor and the insane potential to drop a Gandalf as well as another bomb when you need it (and for the multiplayer factor, should you bring this deck to the table with others).

Wealth of Gondor is a card that could easily be swapped out for something with more impact (my preference would probably be Ancestral Armor for Denethor to get him up to 5 and 5 ), but giving this deck to a new player makes it an easy thing to decipher...one card for one resource to play more stuff...

Gameplay

You see a theme, here, in that this part isn't particularly innovative, either. I just haven't seen an updated Gondor swarm deck in some time, and there's only one other published deck with this lineup (and I'm not really one to worry about theme too much, so Gildor fits perfectly imo). Basically, you mulligan aggressively for Steward of Gondor and start spamming the board with the low-cost allies as fast as possible, triggering the Herald whenever possible as well as Soldier of Gondor for extra card advantage. Dig for A Very Good Tale to use in conjunction with the Citadel Custodian and a "Sneaked" or hard-casted Gandalf, and you should be off to the races fairly quickly. White Tower Watchman and Knight of the White Tower are your tanks for the most part, in conjunction with chumping.

That's really it. Hope yall find this useful as your card pool expands or, if you already have everything, something to give to a newer player who likes Gondor.

Why not Ingold instead of Gildor Inglorion? Provides a similar card draw effect and more thematic.

@ahez20 don’t have ALeP and probably never will, so this is my best option.

Gotcha. Great deck either way!

I might have published that other deck!

A great piece of advice I got was to find room for Second Breakfast. This stops you from playing too carefully with A Very Good Tale when you don’t have Steward or Visionary Leadership in hand. This deck doesn’t work without those two attachments. Let those good tales keep going! Tome of Atanatar is also a good include to double up on any events you need in a pinch, like AVGT or Sneak Attack.

ALeP really did take this deck in a new direction, with the new hero and the Devoted keyword.

@Mavwick, I agree the ALeP stuff definitely makes for some interesting additions, but I just don't have plans to get it.

Regarding Second Breakfast and Tome of Atanatar, they're both cards that have been in here in various iterations, but I ultimately cut for the most streamlined experience for a newer player. I think you could easily squeeze both cards back in for all the reasons you mentioned.
