DECK NAME - Squidwardens
OVERVIEW - Has there ever been a quest that screams Straight Shot more than this one? That means we will need and Boromir's readying effect is clutch for combat as well as for discarding the "Wrapped!" condition. The supporting heroes give us card draw and protection against early enemies. I've also included cards for the purpose of discarding the right card for the Doors of Durin action. Using Gondorian Fire, Boromir will easily destroy the Watcher as we cruise to a commanding victory.
HEROES
- Beravor - draw cardz
- Boromir - attach Dagger of Westernesse, Gondorian Fire, Gondorian Shield, Song of Kings, and Steward of Gondor
- Frodo Baggins - quest each round; use his response if necessary against an undefended attack
STRATEGY
- SETUP - card draw mostly; Steward of Gondor; also the tools needed to deal with the possibility of 2 tentacle enemies engaging us in round 1
- STAGE 1 - turtle here and draw your entire hand before moving on; use Henamarth Riversong to quest with necessary ; kill any and all enemies each round and clear each location that enters play as they enter play; usually good to use all 3 Sneak Attacks and Elrond's Counsel before playing Will of the West to recycle; keep Henamarth Riversong ready when moving on to 2A
- STAGE 2 - exhaust Henamarth Riversong to see which card is on top of the deck then take the Doors of Durin action to discard the needed card (this deck is tuned for success at this action); then optionally engage The Watcher and Feint and/or Quick Strike to kill it (Gandalf can help); then quest to victory next round
- DOORS OF DURIN - even though the following cards can be useful try and insure they are in hand when you move on to 2B: 2nd Henamarth Riversong, Dagger of Westernesse/Deep Knowledge, Thrór's Map, Behind Strong Walls, Close Call, Peace, and Thought, and We Are Not Idle
- Feint - only use on Tentacles that have a "when it attacks" effect
- Peace, and Thought - exhaust Boromir (who can then ready) and Frodo for this effect
- Straight Shot - not a combat action and enemy doesn't have to be engaged with you
- We Are Not Idle - can only play when a Song of Kings is out; use action to draw one card
- Striking & Choking Tentacle - use Feint or Sneak Attack/Gandalf's direct damage
- Thrashing & Writhing Tentacle - use Straight Shot
- Grasping Tentacle - Sneak Attack Gandalf in during combat; block attack with Boromir, then attack and kill with Gandalf; if Grasping Tentacle attaches to Gandalf it is discarded when Gandalf comes back to hand
