This deck is a wonderful choice to play when tackling The Black Riders, Saga-PODs, and The Road Darkens in campaign mode or individually. You will be able to stay in secrecy easily with Merry, Elevenses, and Gandalf. Allowing you to get some cheap allies and resource acceleration. So far, nothing really new as far as a hobbit deck goes.
Until Rosie Cotton showed up.
Simply put, she is amazing. Fast Hitch can be played on her to get multiple uses of her ability. Elevenses is perfect with her, send her on the quest, play Elevenses to ready her and lower your threat by 1, (there are no pipes in this deck because I found I drew plenty of cards) and then use her ability to 'recommit' her to the quest.
2 is great, but increasing it to 5 or 6 is better!
Make Rosie a hero with Sword-thain and your deck will explode with possibilities. She can now easily boost her with Celebrían's Stone, Fireside Song, Song of Hope and Friend of Friends.
It's all about economy; if she has Fast-Hitch, each time you pay for an attachment to raise her you are getting double what you paid for because you can use it twice in the same round! Pay 2 resources for Fireside Song, quest with her, ready her, and then add her willpower to her Hobbit Hubby, or help him defend. Anytime you can get multiple uses of a single attachment in multiple phases is well worth the cost of the attachment.
Fellowship of the Ring and Frodo's Intuition also boost her if she is a hero, and she draws you an additional card.
Elevenses becomes ridiculously powerful because you can send her on the quest, ready her with Fast hitch, play Elevenses and remove all or most of the other hobbits to reduce your threat, then give another hobbit or Rosie herself her effect (she is now a hobbit hero so she can boost herself).
Hide tests in the first saga quest become a lot easier with her ability to boost .
Enjoy!

Sep 05, 2017Wow, I love it! One of the most compelling cases for Sword-thain outside of a Caldara deck. |
Sep 10, 2017+1 just coz Rosie got some hot curly hair ! ^^ |
Sep 13, 2017This deck is so fun! I've taken it through all of Nightmare Black Riders and it's proven extremely capable. I did find Elevenses to be the easiest cut when sideboarding was needed, but otherwise my version has stayed remarkably close to yours. Well done! |
Sep 16, 2017I really like the potential of this deck, who knows... maybe one day a hobbit deck will be broken haha! |
Sep 18, 2017Excellent deck. I swapped Master of the Forge out for Errand-rider to allow a bit more resource-smoothing. |
Sep 27, 2017So what happens when you encounter a quest that requires heavy combat or automatically lumbers you with hard hitting enemies or a big boss? For e.g. hello Shelob? |
Sep 27, 2017I've beaten nightmare Shelob's Lair with a barely modified version of this deck. Usually you're putting Fast Hitches on Sam & Rosie, defending with Sam, pumping his defense by 6-8 with Rosie, then attacking with some combination of allies. |
Sep 27, 2017Exactly johnleo, or you chump and use Rossie to boost Sam's attack to kill. Sneak Gandalf and Treebeard for a boss works as well. You draw so many cards you really have the entire decklist to work with. thanks for the comments! |
Oct 10, 2017Jumping into this conversation late- are you playing your campaign solo? If multi or two-handed, what are your pairings? What sorts of decks would you think pair well with this one? |
Oct 10, 2017I tested this deck solo and it worked fine. If I were to pair it with something I would use a deck with Silvans, particularly Haldir and Celeborn and a low threat tactics hero. Haldir could snipe enemies, Silvans bouncing in and out doing what they do. It would also pair well with a lower threat deck that has tactics Beregond. Enjoy and good luck |
Oct 31, 2017I love the idea of making rosie a hero, and then using her in many different ways |
Mar 24, 2018Do to some RingsDB background work Captains of the West replaced Friend of Friends! Please swap them out if you build this deck |

Apr 30, 2018Yes, it looks like the error has been fixed in the system. |
Jun 14, 2018Just made this deck up and looking forward to trying it out in the campaign for the weekend. |
There are so many things to like about this deck, but one of my favorites is just how amazing Frodo's Intuition is here.
