After episode 143 of Cardboard of the Rings I was contacted by Buz and Mr. Underhill about the card Valiant Determination. Like Jon, they both said this card is better than my hot-take in the right deck. For example; a Dale deck.
Why Valiant Determination is worth the cost is based on the ally it's attached to. Enter Guardian of Esgaroth. He is so good, +1 to all his stats for each attachment, Brand son of Bain boosts his , Hauberk of Mail and Squire's Helm boosts his defending ability, a Wild Stallion boosts everything again. It's very easy to have him questing and defending for 6 each, making him the PERFECT Valiant Determination target.
Gameplay
Very straightforward: Play attachments and win. Mulligan hard for King of Dale. If you don't find it hopefully you have Gather Information, Long Lake Fisherman, or draw a lot of cards by Elven-light and playing attachments on Dale characters. Use Elf-friend as a pseudo Errand-rider to allow Arwen Undómiel to pass resources to the Bard son of Brand. He is the better target since he will be paying for most of the attachments. Elf-friend is also great to combo with King of Dale since it counts as an attachment.
No Elven-Light, no problem. DIscard allies and play them from your discard pile with Stand and Fight (you cannot discount their cost via King of Dale though, since the cost of the event is putting the ally in play).

Feb 21, 2019About to post my own Dale deck, but it seems you have beaten me to the punch! Very nice deck, and I agree on Valiant Determination. It is amazing on Guardian of Esgaroth. |
I love this card even if it isn't as efficient sometimes as just playing another ally. Good deck!
