Discard Pile

Upon opening my Fate of Wilderland pack one player cars in particular caught my eye - Reforged. Recycle any attachment in your discard pile for the cost of that attachment - yes please! I love trap decks, so was it possible to make a trap deck with Spirit?! This deck is the result of my attempt.

The basic principle of the deck is to get your traps out, discard them once used, then pull them back with Reforged. Once you've played all 3 copies, use Dwarven Tomb to get your Reforged copies back and repeat the cycle.

As with any good trap deck Damrod is key in reducing trap cost and getting cards drawn. Initially I was hoping to kit him out with some ranger gear to boost him up, but there just wasn't room in the deck. Damrod gives access to , and so the majority of the traps, as well as such handy cards as Emyn Arnen Ranger, Loyal Hound, Master of the Forge (to get those traps flowing out of your deck), and, of course, healing. Forest Patrol is a great card for chipping a bit off a trapped enemy when you are in a pinch. Stick a Wingfoot on Damrod and name "enemy" after exhausting to quest and he will always be there to lend a hand with +2 attack.

Grimbeorn is the tank. Build him up with Raiment of War and Grappling Hook, then when you need to defend/kill a bigger enemy use Beorn's Rage and Valour of the North. The Beorning Skin-changer and Giant Bear combo is in there for good measure to help you out with extra attacks. Keep resources back as much as you can to pay for his awesome ability.

Lastly we have Lanwyn, our hero who provides access to . This let's us get out Arwen Undómiel for and a defence boost, and Galadriel's Handmaiden for and threat reduction. Galion is in there to play for free, quest for 1 on his first turn, then chump block and repeat. Unexpected Courage is now available to us, so stick one on Grimbeorn the Old and one on Lanwyn and she can help you out with her 3 attack when the need arises.

And now we come to sweet, nourishing Reforged. Get your traps out with your Damrod discount. Once discarded, play Reforged to pull any trap you want back. Repeat for the traps you are finding useful. Once spent up on your 3 Reforged cards, or if you aren't getting them into your hand as quickly as you would like, crack out the Dwarven Tomb to pull your reforged out of your discard pile and use it again to get your traps. Keep repeating this and you should be able to trap to victory.

And that's it. I hope you enjoy the deck. Any comments welcome.

Actually I don't think you can use Damrod discount with Reforged since it says to pay X and then "choose an attachment with printed cost of X". Otherwise nice deck, but I would add some more resource generation/smoothing.

But you are still playing that trap card, and the Damrod discount is a passive effect, so it thought it would apply still. I'll seek clarification. Yeah resource generation/smoothing is a drawback of the deck. Maybe soon Good Garvest would do the trick.

But you have to pay the X cost of the event before actually playing the trap and that X is the printed cost of the trap, so I think it's quite clear it's not affected by Damrod's discount. The wording of the event seems quite cleary chosen to avoid being able to apply any discount to the card original cost. Still asking for clarification is never a bad idea.

The general consensus is that you're right. I've altered the text to reflect this. Still a good deal for pulling back your traps I think.
