v3.
-
By the time I have 2 green resources to cast The Dam Bursts - it's too late and not needed.
-
Halfling Determination is very rarely an option that I have, as I'd preer to just get another ent in
-
Song of Wisdom has not shown up reliably, so has been swapped out
-
The Player Side quests are clutch.
So we took the deck for a test run with Battle of the Five Armies (as you do). Here are things that I learned:
-
Use Bilbo's resource to cast Treebeard, if you have it.
-
If not, use Bilbo's resource to hunt for Arkenstone. Bring that in on Pippin. This way, you can cast maybe a Warden of Healing, a Booming Ent turn 1, and Fast Hitch. Yes, you go up in threat, but let's be honest - it's the Battle.
-
Have your partner cast some Self Preservation on Quickbeam. You will need it.
-
Threat in the early game in exchange for more ents is definitely going to save you.
Any other advice?
I wanted to make a thematic deck: you know, when Merry and Pippin find themselves with the Ents Quickbeam in this case
The strategy I'm going with is:
~ Mulligan for Treebeard and a red 2-cost ent in opening hand.
~ Turn 1: cast red 2-cost ent. Save the green resources. Quest Pippin and Quickbeam. If necessary, damage Quickbeam to ready him for the next phases.
~ Turn 2: cast Treebeard so he can start collecting resources. Use Daeron's Runes, Entmoot to get more Ents into hand.
Any advice is welcome.
