This deck is my represtation of the original fellowship. It aims at putting down 6 allies to trigger the Fellowship contract. To do this the deck tries to get Steward of Gondor on Elrond to pay for the beefy allies Boromir, Legolas and Gimli. There are a lot of draw (Deep Knowledge) and fetch cards (Heed the Dream, Gather Information). It's a good idea to save a Heed the Dream to fetch the missing allies to complete the fellowship. This deck uses doomed cards heavily in the early rounds, generally expect to trigger Aragorn's ability by round 3 after that Frodo Baggins can keep your threat level in control.
Aragorn and Frodo Baggins are the 2 members of the fellowship of which there is only a hero versdion so they get the hero slots. Elrond brought together the fellowship so het gets a place as well (this is the biggest thematic concession I guess).
The One Ring is included with a copy of each master card mostly for theme but they can be very usefull to counter turn 1 enemies or crippling treacheries. It also means the doom cards are more dangerous so keep an eye on the threat.

Oct 06, 2019`@Wandalf the Gizzard : I considered it but I didn't want to turn this into a "Vilya deck". Thinking about it I think Vilya would have a high chance to miss in this deck even when all allies would be increased to 3 copies. The fellowship contract stops me from including Imladris Stargazer (that was my self-imposed restriction a deck with the original fellowship using the fellowship contract). In earlier versions I used hero Gandalf but that was much trickier to set up. |
Did you consider Vilya to help with the expensive allies? There are quite a few events in the deck, though, so that well justifies the absence. I know sometimes I leave it out of an Elrond deck just because I’m tired of its power level. Anyway, cool deck!
