Hans Frolo is a really fun card for the Grey Wanderer Contract (not included in this decklist since it is not available yet).

The card you want to dig out is Song of Travel. This allows you to play Sam Gamgee for 1 resource, which in turn allows you to play Bill the Pony for free. These 2 cards you paid 1 for are worth 5 resources, making them excellent targets for A Very Good Tale. Especially when Sam has built in readying from raising your threat, which is what this contract does.

If you are unable to get the Sam/Bill combo running right away, no problem. Play secrecy allies like Rivendell Scout, Celduin Traveler, or Ithilien Archer for A Very Good Tale or to use in your opening turns. Since you are in secrecy with a hero, Timely Aid is always a clutch card to draw. Treebeard for one resource? Yes please!

By keeping your threat low at the start of the game you build up your boardstate, Sam becomes a very good ally Arwen Undómiel or a Wild Stallion in play. You should be able to quest with him, then ready him after triggering the Contract's ability to defend and/or attack. Rosie can boost Frodo.

Enjoy!

"Sam becomes a very good ally with Rosie Cotton"

Rosie can't buff Sam while Sam is in Ally form. Maybe add Sword-thain?
