/r/lotrlcg Deck of the Day - 26.03.20
Restrictions: Core+KD only
The original deck contained too many (situational) events that made it inconsistent imho. Without a lucky Gandalf or early Gléowine to provide card draw I ended up with small piles of resources, but nothing to play.
Small adjustments and comments after a couple of test rounds:
-
Increased the overall amount of allies.
You need them to quest (Sudden Pitfall!) and as chump blockers. -
Secret Paths > Radagast's Cunning: Most enemies only have 1 and on the location side there's Zigil Mineshaft that can be a huge pain.
-
Self Preservation to help with Gimlis defense. Some additonal healing might be useful, but I'm not sure what to cut here.
-
The Favor of the Lady vs Untroubled by Darkness:
Untroubled has the potential for a huge questing push, but it never really worked out for me. Early consistency vs late game potential basically. -
Erebor Record Keeper is the real MVP!
Helps Gimli to both attack and defend, can help with Watchful Eyes, ... -
Northern Tracker is expensive, but works nicely with Cave Torch!
-
Threat can be an issue (too many unlucky doomed cards!) so The Galadhrim's Greeting would be nice to have, but it's expensive ( is already streched thin) and once again I'm not sure what to kick out to make room for it.
-
Ancestral Knowledge: Too many restrictions (active location! exhaust!) to be useful imho so this was an easy cut.
-
Added Forest Snare to deal with Patrol Leader.
Overall it was a fun trip back to the roots and I enjoyed (re)visiting old favorites like Secret Paths!
