Pure Series #2:

I realized that my original Pure Series has become out of date, so I've remade many (if not all) of my decks.

This is a series of about 10 decks that I made that don’t share any cards with each other. Meaning I can only use Steward of Gondor in one of my 10 decks. This forces me to use different methods of card draw and resource generation.

I only use heroes that fit the theme or archetype of the deck.

I do include different cards of the same unique character in different decks. (Ex. Haldir of Lórien hero in my Scout deck and Haldir of Lórien ally in my Silvan deck.)

Rohan Deck:

This is a really fun deck and has quickly become one of my favorites.

Rohan decks can be tricky, but with the Rohan support coming out in recent packs I’ve actually really enjoyed using this deck. This is a questing oriented deck in order to help out your enemy-killing partners.

Opening Hand:

You want to see

1st: Horn of the Mark

2nd: Horn of Gondor

3rd: Gamling

A perfect turn would be having Horn of the Mark and Horn of Gondor attached with Gamling. Quest with Lothíriel and plop an Escort from Edoras down for free (maybe a West Road Traveller or Éomund if you need the readying). You will basically trigger all the Rohan effects when that ally leaves play at the end of the phase.

Card Draw:

The major weakness of this deck is card draw, but I’ve actually found that not to be as bad a problem as you would think. Still, you are really looking for Horn of the Mark in your opening hand.

Alternate card draw comes from Mustering the Rohirrim (usually search for Gamling) and Westfold Horse-breeder, both allowing you to scythe your deck for those key cards you need.

Resources:

Horn of Gondor is amazing in this deck as you will be discarding allies almost every turn, and it is even better in multiplayer. It can go on any of your heroes, it just depends on your hand. Horn of Gondor combined with Lothíriel gets you a coin every turn and then The Muster of Rohan will just makes it OP, basically paying for itself.

Defense:

We are a little limited on defense, but luckily we are a questing deck and shouldn’t need it much. We’ve got Golden Shield + Snowmane/Westfold Horse-Breaker on Théoden option. The Grimbold option. The Rohirrim Scout option. Or the straight Quick Strike with Éomer (who should have 7 attack with Firefoot). Last resort of just sacrificing an ally.

If you still have Gamling ready when you get to combat you can use the Grimbold/Gamling combo. When you have GrimboldGamling, and Horn of Gondor on Éomer you can play Grimbold every turn for only 1 coin!

Attack:

Our main attack is Éomer. If we get Firefoot onto Éomer, he should have a decent attack of 7 every round.

Willpower:

Like I said this is a question deck so you are going to be committing mostly everyone. If you’ve got The Muster of Rohan and have enough time/resources to play Astonishing Speed with it - you just became a questing monster.

This deck is very flexible where no matter what card you draw they are all useful. Have fun with it!

Look like a very instesting update for this thematic Rohan deck, a played a lot with the 2016 "Pure Series" versions :)

I'm not always sure I follow the rules regarding the "leave play" keyword.

"Horn of Gondor combined with Lothíriel gets you a coin every turn [...] " I suppose you are playing with the non-errata'd card of Horn of Gondor, since it trigger only on "destroy"

Concerning Gamling, are you sure "discarded from play" match the "shuffle into your deck" from Lothíriel ?

Thanks for theses deck, hope silvan will be update too :)

That's so cool! I'm glad you liked it and that posting these is actually making a difference. Hopefully, you will enjoy this new version as much as I do!

You would be correct. The Horn of Gondor I have says, "leaves play" I didn't even realize there was an updated version.

With Gamling, you are right in the discarded from play text, I guess I didn't mention it above but when using Escort from Edoras, Westfold Horse-Breaker, or Rohirrim Scout with Lothíriel you use their "discard from play" effects and then return them to your hand with Gamling. Escort from Edoras is the preferable of the three.
