172 point victory. One hand.
After at least a hundred failed run throughs trying different heroes, and decks, ranging from just using the Core Set to adding in The Hunt from Gollum, this deck has given me the most consistent progress. If cards land right (both your cards and the encounter deck) I could usually make it to stage two. But never further. Until I finally scored a solo 1-handed victory. I killed two Dungeon Jailor cards, the Chieftan Ufthak, and the Hummerhorns.
Aragorn was taken. Which at first I thought would be a major hinderance, but Dúnhere was a star, killing the Hummerhorns I drew before my Threat was high enough for it to become engaged.
Éowyn MUST not be the prisoner. Her high Willpower, without any attachments, and her ability to increase 1 willpower with a discard (which can then be brought back, if an ally, with if Stand and Fight), was imperative to any progress I ever made. Pair her with Celebrian's Stone, and I scored a victory.
Aragorn with Celebrian's Stone COULD work, but I personally found it too slow, as you must not spend the Leadership resource and then wait til next round, just to play it. This can serve better by just playing low cost allies.
All-Stars of winning playthrough?
Gandalf. Song of Kings and Steward of Gondor combo. Stand and Fight. Both Longbeard Orc Slayer and Faramir. And if I didn't draw both my The Galadhrim's Greeting, I'd have been ruined.
Hard Mulligan, in order of importance, for:
Next goal is to try this without using Hunt from Gollum cards and just Core Deck.
New player, how does Beorn fit into a Spirit/Leadership deck?
