This deck is intended for solitaire, one-handed play. It's the deck I tweaked and built to reliably win The Long Dark, progression style. I'm sure there are better decks out there, but this is my result given that I wanted to make some kind of two-hero secrecy style deck.

This deck may not work well in other quests. It relies heavily on using the Cave Torch to discard nasty treacheries after scouting the encounter deck with Henamarth Riversong or Needful to Know.

The card draw from Bilbo Baggins and Ancient Mathom is vital to survive locate tests and to power Éowyn and Protector of Lórien. Since I usually run through the whole deck, I've put one copy of Will of the West to keep cards flowing.

Bilbo Baggins is the defender, boosted by Arwen Undómiel and Protector of Lórien and Fast Hitch, while Mirkwood Runner cuts enemies down (there are many low-hp dudes who will swarm you).

No A Burning Brand for Bilbo? If you switch out the Protectors for it, with Arwen Undómiel's boost Bilbo will be literally indestructible to every enemy in the quest aside from the Great Cave-troll, which you would ideally not be engaging anyway, and you can save cards for locate tests. Also, though your experiences may be different than mine, I might want to throw in a few copies of Warden of Healing, though that may be because I'm paranoid about damage.

Overall though, I like the deck. Long Dark (or, if you're playing well, The Short Dark) is a great quest for solo and scrying makes it even easier. Love the combo with Henamarth Riversong and the Cave Torch (which, in my opinion, should have seen a player card variant before the end of the game).

I feel like post-errata, Protector may be better? Burning Brand exhausts, so only works against a single attack, whereas Protector provides a defense boost for the entire phase, so Bilbo can defend against several enemies in a turn, provided he's equipped with Fast Hitch.

It depends on what you want. A Burning Brand blocks against the extremely annoying "Exhaust a character you control" and "Trigger all Lost effects in play," and ideally you won't be engaging more than 2 (the maximum number of Brands Bilbo Baggins can hold) enemies at a time, but if you prefer the potential to defend more than 2 enemies, Protector of Lórien can work. I'd just prefer A Burning Brand so that you can avoid non--boosting shadows (like the aforementioned ones) and could save your cards for locate tests.

Tried this for my very first secrecy deck; it was a bloodbath! Not sure I got past the third turn in four tries. Either I couldn't handle the questing and got stalled by Twisted Passages (two games), or that darn Foul Air wiped Bilbo (two games). I probably should try an easier quest to get comfortable with secrecy.

Cool. Pretty similar to my favorite 2 hero secrecy deck (Loragorn, and Théodred).
