They always mocked him, laughed at him, told him he had no place... and left him to be trampled underfoot. Little did they know the day would come when the very one they cast away would be glorified among them. One whose name will ring loud in songs for years to come. But who is he? And how did a lowly Scout become a renowned warrior of the Mark? This is the story of rise of the Snowbourn Scout, Shield of the Eastfold.

~

I'm a firm believer in fun decks being the best decks. They create the best experiences and sometimes tell a tale. In this case its the Snowbourn Scout - widely known as one of the weakest cards in the game. But not for long... By the end of a successful (and perhaps laborous) round he ends up being a great quester, defender, and attacker. Sure, you could use literally any ally with this method. Even using a unique ally could be sword-thained for best results. But the goal is fun! And what better fun than to tell the story of an underdog rising to power! The meek shall inherit the (middle) earth, right??

The Plan

Hirluin should get Lord of Morthond with the Grey Wanderer contract setup. This will jumpstart the draw.

Snowbourn Scout starts as he always does. Only this time you do NOT chump him! In fact, he earns prowess as the battle continues. The more more attachments he gets the stronger he becomes. First, he should get In Service of the Steward, then Sword of Morthond. Mulligan for at least one of these. This will ensure be benefits from his Outland allies. Use Open the Armory and Master of the Forge to fish for the attachments you need. Ancestral Armor is the first target. It's expensive, but Steward of Gondor and Resourceful have this covered! Next you have a choice. Either throw a Spear of the Mark on him for more attack, or attach A Burning Brand for shadow cancellation. He should always get Map of Rhovanion so he can not only quest but automatically add a progress to the active location. He should also always get Valiant Determination ASAP to ensure he can utilize his stats best. Yes folks, we are looking at a Voltron Snowbourn Scout. After all is said and done he could very well end up with 7 and 7 with shadow cancellation. He earns the "Shield of the Eastfold" title as a result.

At the core this is a simplified Outlands deck which is a huge fail safe if you can't draw into Snowbourn's attachments in time. The point is just to have fun while making this obnoxious combo work. It might even surprise you.

EDIT: Accidentally added Andrath Guardsman instead of Warrior of Lossarnach

I love this idea of toying with Outlands. How are you playing Burning Brand on the Scout? He's not a lore character

@bobbymcbobfacewhoops! I guess I'm not using it. I knew there was a reason I skipped over it the first time. Good catch. I'll probably substitute for Men of the West or Ever Vigilant

what about Squire's Helm ?

@doomguardgood point. I couldn't decide if I should add that or just go with the Spears. But after more playing I think I'll actually remove the Spears all together and add the Squire Helms :)

and, you could replace the scout with the Squire of the Citadel then u need 1 attachement less In Service of the Steward do not now if that hits eactly the theme u wanted, but its one of the cheapest and lowest ally who can get to that hights to defend an army ;)
