Just wanted to give an Ancestral Armor to my Vigilant Dúnadan. You know, for reasons.

For solo play Light of Valinor is probably better for Cirdan than a Steed of the North. But i like the idea of having a multiplayer deck with very few unique problems.

The Last Alliance : A is Noble, B is Dúnedain (you can replace Faramir with Eldahir if B is Ranger instead of Dúnedain).

With contrat you can use Terrible to Behold on your armored Vigilant Dúnadan wich i find really fun^^

I would add Armored Destrier for Amarthiúl.

Amarthiúl is probably only going to defend in the first, maybe second round. And even if he can use Captain's Wisdom (thanks to contract), he will already have a ton of (with the help of Cirdan once he gets Narya) and cards to pay. I don't think spending two resources (and probably 3 slots because it's a card you only want to see in early) is worth it.

But i have not tried this deck yet (i'm in holiday away from my cards^^), so i may reconsiderer it after a few games :)

Do you use Send for Aid as your first side quest to bring in Vigilant Dúnadan in the first or second round or are you using a different strategy?

If you are lucky you can play Vigilant Dúnadan turn one if you have

  • an ennemy engaged with you
  • 2 Captain's Wisdom (one for Cirdan, one for Amarthiúl with contract)
  • Théodwyn (play with contract's reduction, give resource to Cirdan) and Arwen Undómiel
  • now you can play the Dúnadan for 3 thanks to the contract.

Joke apart, i'll probably pick the side quest depending of my hand :

  • Captain's Wisdom (or Narya) + Dúnadan : i can play him T2, so i'll go Gather Information to grab attachments
  • No Dúnadan but key attachments or Galadriel : Send for Aid to grab Dúnadan, of course
  • Dúnadan without good attachments or resource acceleration... that's the tricky part, i can't give an advice now^^ But Gather information is easier to complete than Send for Aid, so i may prefer it.

But Keep Watch is never going to get picked. If the scenario has no big ennemies, you can probably replace it with a Double Back

Thanks for the answer! Your deck showed me the great fun one can have with the Vigilant Dúnadan, and right now I am having a blast trying out some decks that use him. Most often I am using Wild Stallion for him though, cause I have not yet dared to try out a Last Alliance deck ;)

I may be stupid but how do you attach the armor on the vigilant dunadan?

@Portinouille Exhaust The Last Alliance contract to target Ancestral Armor in your hand so that it temporarily reads, "Attach to a or Noble or Dúnedain character...". The card only checks for the trait when it is first played, so will stay on permanently.

@Portinouille contract with action. noble would be replaced by "noble or dunedain" used on the armor
