motivation: i want to make a deck that makes use of The Day's Rising and Heir of Mardil because i never used that cards in a play. it was allwasy to much luck needed to make a 2-card-combo running that has not more use than a unexpected courage (+1 res).
so a hero with sentinel and noble is needed. there are very few options. i decided for gimli, he can be made a tower of defense that rivals evan beregond!
what helps to get a special card into play? grey wanderer. so it is, grey wanderer ledaershipgimli. to make him that formidable defender, that cares about all others, he need much equipment.
thematic shenanigans: hey why should there not be a dwarf-hero in ancient times who has that name too ;) or gloin (gimlis father) was adopted by that family. and because we are not along the "true" tolkien path, why not giving him the ring ^^
gameplay it is a multiplayerdeck and fokus is fighting(defending)

defaultattachement is The Day's Rising, mulligan for Heir of Mardil or King Under the Mountain. Well-Equipped is also helpfull, and when you draw a sneack+gandalf you can keep it and use it for more cards (and questing 1. round)

play as 1. card Inner Strength if more defense is needed in the 1. round, wait with using the contract until the combat and then refresh and resources (or if the 1. round was very dire evan healing)

build him up with either armor or destrider (if drawing the Golden Belt he can have both) in addition to Hauberk of Mail (its not restricted) and as many signs as possible

as soon as he have Heir of Mardil, he has additional potential readying in the combat phase

try to make him King Under the Mountain then he gets faster the needed attachments

do not forget, Lórien's Wealth has to be played as 1. card a round

with much carddraw at the end, he might have Strength and Courage together with his rage (Gimli and Dúnedain Mark and Dúnedain Cache he cannot only defend well he has a ranged blow, that kills most enemies

he can pile up to 5(6) repeatable readying: -- contract -- 3 courages -- Heir of Mardil+The Day's Rising -- (destrider)

defense of 3 + 3 possible warnings +1 hauberk + 2 ancestral armour OR a destrider with readying and shadowdiscard (with Golden Belt 2 of that)

with Dúnedain Cache he cannot only defend he can attack wherever you want

with Thorongil make him the true fighter Gimli and boost his attack
cram and Unexpected Courage gives him the endurance that is needed to defend for many enemys at your friends
for optimizing it is perhaps better to start default with Heir of Mardil and put in 3 The Day's Rising but then the name would not be as cool as now ;) with Heir of Mardil as default, he can use all 3 possibilities of the contract as once (because of the ressources he can ready so choosing ressources and healing is enough because mardil readies him on top) until he get the The Day's Rising (what then gives more flexibility)
consider to throw in some Grappling Hook or Khazâd! Khazâd!
