History
I tried a couple of decks with The Grey Wanderer, but I always felt a bit limited by the lack of starting resources. So, how do you tackle this issue? Well, Denethor of course!
Once I got this idea, I immediately fell in love with the concept. Storywise, I mean. Think about it like that: Denethor is keeping some of Gondor's money aside to pay for his own "black-ops team", or should we say "grey-ops"? He's putting together his own "wild bunch" of Haradrims, Dunedain, Rangers, and some ex military from around Gondor (like the Knights of the Swan).
Pretty wild, innit?
Denethor uses his intel (disguising himself as green Denethor, with the help of Thorongil) to see what's going on and then sends his team around. Storywise, it would be even cooler to make it a Palantir deck!
Strategy
Well, there's not much apart from the cool story. The idea is to put as many allies out as possible, with Denethor's resources and cards Timely Aid or A Very Good Tale. But this strategy doesn't go to well with Strider. And this deck really suffers with questing...
i have a similar version: ringsdb.com the maindifference is, that i start with Lord of Morthond then you have carddraw from the beginning. i avoid non-ld-uniques. and do not use strider at all.
i did not publish it, because same idea with Hirluin the Fair is better.
