Important: The two Blue Mountain Traders are the new attachment Prince of Dol Amroth.
Concept:
This deck combines two different "traits" of deck building. The first aspect is a recursion deck, which tries to bring Gandalf and Elrond as often as possible into the game. The second aspect is chosen because the first part needs three -heroes. I had gondor spam and outlands in my mind. Because I never tried a mono-Outlands deck, I build up that variant: a classical Outlands deck.
Recursion.
The cards Gandalf, Elrond, Second Breakfast, Tome of Atanatar, Sneak Attack and Reinforcements are beoning to the first aspect of this deck. With this setup at the end game the player can bring up both allies (almost) each round.
Card draw.
Lord of Morthond, Erestor and Valiant Sacrifice will boost the card draw and helps to get to recursion part of this deck.
Resources.
Steward of Gondor will bring the needed resources to have Elrond and Gandalf in the game, as well as playing all the other cards before. So It has to be attached to Hirluin.
Overuse of Prince Imrahil.
Heir of Mardil and the new Prince of Dol Amroth attach to Prince Imrahil. PoDA will give another resource and boost his stats. Denethors ability can ready him together with HoM. So, when a Gandalf (or Elrond) leaves play Imrahil readies and when you move a resource to him he readies, too. Sadly you won't have that resource die Reinforcements then.
Backup and card smooting.
Gather Information will help to get "the last card to complete the setup", Send for Aid helps to bring a needed outlands ally (to complete the four colours) in play. Strength of Arms and Men of the West are kind of emergency cards. As they can find thier way back into game with Tome of Atanatar there is only one version of them in the deck.
Well, Outlands.
All the other cards are Outlands allies.
Starting hand and style of play:
Muligan for Steward of Gondor. Lord of Morthond is also quite nice. Sneak attack and Gandalf, too. Most the times I use Gandalfs ability to draw cards.
Deck abilites:
The base of each deck is (more or less):
- Questing
- Attacking
- Defending
- Threat management
- Resource acceleration
- Card draw
- Savety
The first three aspects are well given by the outlands, Threat and some Savety is given by Gandalf and Elrond. There are many cards with help with card draw. Resource acceleration is done by Steward of Gondor, as well as P.I. So I'd say this is a well rounded deck.
