DECK NAME - Doom Mitigators
OVERVIEW - Draw cards like crazy and use Grima's action each round to pay for them. Using Good Meal and The Galadhrim's Greeting (and recurring with Dwarven Tomb), Frodo can keep away from 50. If you engage an enemy, Frodo can take the attack undefended. Then throw a Forest Snare on said enemy next round. Wins in 9-13 rounds usually.
HEROES
- Beravor - draw cards each round
- Frodo - attach Good Meal, Hobbit Pipe and Keys of Orthanc; quest each round and convert any undefended attacks to threat
- Grima - attach Self Preservation and Song of Travel; use action each round (triggering Keys of Orthanc on Frodo)
STRATEGY
- OPENING HAND - hard mulligan for Keys of Orthanc
- STARTING LOCATIONS - I usually never travel to them until I feel safe with the reality that I can't play events or attachments are blanked next round; Northern Tracker can eventually take them out
- OUTLANDS ALLIES - don't put out until you can play 2X Anfalas Herdsman so each one has 3 or else Rock Slide treachery will kill them
- Gandalf - attach Self Preservation; useful for taking an attack from Tunneling Nameless Thing or killing pesky crows; don't be afraid to discard him and bring his second copy back into play if threat becomes an issue
- Northern Tracker - attach Self Preservation; only included 1X since nightmare limits each staging area location to one progress a round
- Warden of Healing - never exhaust until after staging; keep allies healed; chump block in a crisis
- Forest Snare - using Grima's action you can always afford during a planning phase; throw on all enemies but crows when engaged with you
- THREAT REDUCTION - try and wait to play The Galadhrim's Greeting when you have Good Meal and Hobbit Pipe attached; recur The Galadhrim's Greeting using Dwarven Tomb
- Thrór's Map - use to keep from "traveling" to locations and having to engage the worms; otherwise don't use
- Will of the West - nice to reuse threat reduction cards if the game takes a bit
- NOTE: I initially used 3X Erebor Hammersmith to recur Good Meals and Thrór's Map when discarded, but it seemed more efficient to thin out the deck and give Grima Song of Travel to pay for The Galadhrim's Greetings til we can use Will of the West
