Thematic hobbit deck for The Black Riders Saga Expansion.
The main loop of this deck is:
- quest with Frodo, Sam and Pippin
- optionally engage one enemy per turn, draw a card and ready Sam
- Sam defends wih 4 when he has the Hobbit Cloak and gets the +1 bonus for engaging.
- Pippin hits with up to 8 when equipped with two Dagger of Westernesse
Use the extra allies or keep Frodo or Pippin back for combat to ensure that you finish off each enemy in one turn.
If you don't have enough defense on Sam, you can either use Halfling Determination to boost his defense or block the attacks using Feint, Gaffer Gamgee's action, Loyal Hound's response or just sacrifice an ally as a last resort.
Do not use Frodo's ability except as an absolutely last resort, because there are many effects that get worse when the ring is exausted.
Use The Shirefolk, the Woodmen's Clearing or Gandalf to keep your low.
Mulligan for (in order of priority):
- Hobbit Cloak
- Dagger of Westernesse
- Fast Hitch
- Feint, Gaffer Gamgee, Halfling Determination, Unseen Strike to ensure you can dispatch an enemy in one turn
