Welcome to my very silly deck idea! Each card in the deck has a word that starts with the letter "C" (yes I'm ignoring the hyphen in Sea-captain plus sea sounds like "C" anyways). I honestly didn't think this deck would not only look somewhat playable but make the full 50 cards of tournament legality. Although I do have some ideas for fun house rules that would make it significantly less tournament legal that I will mention later.
I was shocked by how much thematic synergy is happening here with such a strange idea and my nowhere near complete card pool. Círdan enabling Elrond's Counsel, Celeborn having a silvan to boost which also gives Children of the Sea a target, Caldara plus her fellow Gondorians who reduce the cost on Citadel Custodian (plus she could discard herself to bring back a ally but that seems really dumb lol), Grey Cloak and Mariner's Compass alongside 2 scout characters, Celly plus his daughter's stone, and to a lesser thematic extent Ceorl and his resource readying. On to a bit of strategy.
Captain's Wisdom will likely be played on C-dawg to help him pay for all those cards and the cost of exhausting him is nicely offset via all the readying of Cram, Unexpected Courage, and even Common Cause. Although the latter is less helpful unless you can play and trigger a C-captain on the same turn or have even more readying on the table. Pelargir Ship Captain helps the Celf on the shelf offset his money problems, especially if he's able to reclaim the resource a Squire of the Citadel bequeathed to Caldara after a valiant chump-block. Hidden Cache exists... It's not very good since Círdan's ability doesnt work with it since it gets drawn then discarded. Although I suppose the card draw effect when played could be used if you have spare resources. However, if you follow me into the house rules, I've got some ideas...
We can always just house rule Hidden Cache so Círdan CAN activate its effect. Alternatively we could make it so when you play it from your hand you can fetch Narya from your collection and add it to your hand OR trigger its original ability. This would take the burden of paying those cards off of Cellphone's back. Just imagine Círdan finding his ring under his bed or something.
An additional fun rule is to ignore sphere matches as long as the cards have the letter "C" starting a word in their name. All my suitable cards are in the sideboard as well as those that have "Sea". This opens up deckbuilding greatly, especially since I tried sphere matching with other letter decks and it didn't go too well. (Although that could be my small cardpool) We could maybe even draw up a custom contract to legitimize and fancy this idea up a bit.
Something like: SIDE A: You can only use cards that have a chosen letter starting one of the words in their name in your deck. All cards gain that letter as a trait. Cards with the letter trait do not require a resource match to be played. Flip to side B after you have played X cards with the letter trait. SIDE B: Cards with the letter trait do not require a resource match to be played. Once per phase you may replace any traits printed in the text of one of your cards with the letter trait.
Is it broken? (Ceorl laughs manically as he exhausts to play Word of Command and then readies via a resource) Probably. I would even add an additional clause letting you phonetic sounds be included in the contract like Sea = "C" and Ar = "R" just because it sounds fun to me. Additionally I would probably specify that X is a different number depending on whether you actually have enough cards available to make a legal deck size, I'm not quite sure whether a smaller deck would need more or less help from side B of this contract though. Also I have no idea what number X should be in general I'd probably have to test that.
Feel free to build your own deck in this style, it was quite fun, and it doesn't have to be "C" of course so choose whichever letter you wish!
