There are two themes in this deck - Ally recycling, and beefing up Théoden.
This deck in solo has defeated several nightmare quests - particularly quest heavy decks - Hunt for Gollum, and Emyn Muil.
Major weaknesses: Low early attack, no healing. Can struggle without Horn of the Mark. Major Strengths: Early questing power, Ally swarm, and some powerful attachments to beef up your heroes.
Ultimate late game combo for a super questing turn is The Muster of Rohan, and then playing Astonishing Speed, but this is a late super quest push, as will cost you 7 resources (although at least you don't have to worry about resource match!)
Before cards are drawn, with just your hero's: Off the bat, Éowyn will quest for 4, and has a useful way to discard copies of unique cards from hand. Fastred can defend for 3, and until Théoden's attack is ready, return those enemies to the staging area dropping your threat by 2. A handy rule is to have Hasty Stroke in hand and a spare resource before repeating this maneouvre too often (but using it sparingly - discarding an ally is fine).
The first focus is ally recycling, using Gamling and multiple allies that either self discard at will, or are discarded by card effects. Théoden plays them back in for a discount, and they tend to average around 2 cost.
Early mission critical cards for Ally recycling are: 1) Gamling (to power the ally recycling aspect). If you don't get Gamling, but do get Mustering the Rohirrim, then there are three copies, so you may chance your arm.
2) Horn of the Mark is essential as soon as you start using Gamlingto use this for card draw...however it is reasonable to wait until Gamling in play, as you probably won't want to be discarding allies readily before you can recycle them
Early mission critical cards for Théoden beefing are, in this order: 2) Silver Circlet, then Herugrim then Snowmane. This creates Théoden into a machine of a quester, who will then usually ready, and be able to attack for 7.
Attachments: Snowmane, Herugrim and Silver Circlet go on Théoden. A second Silver circlet onto Eowyn. Horn of the mark (unique) goes onto Eowyn (don't put on Theoden as is restricted and you need the two (three) restricted slots.
Perfect opening hand: Horn of the Mark, Gamling, Snowmane, Herugrim, Westfold horse breaker. Hasty Stroke (allowing low risk Fastred action). Note the allies that do not require exhausting to trigger their actions, allowing them to quest each round (Westfold Horse-breaker/Rohirrim Scout).
Gameplay tips: Try to ensure you play 1 ally from hand per turn to maximise Theoden's discount. Keep Hasty stroke in hand, with a spare resource, only cancelling major shadow effects to get Fastred's threat reduction going.
