Ramalocé 3
This deck was created with the intention to play Saruman. Frodo Baggins helps maintaining a low threat and ready Saruman (as long as you succeed in quest). Glorfindel helps with quest and combat thanks to Light of Valinor. The low starting threat allows to play a lot of doomed cards and helps stuffing Saruman and Glorfindel.
You really aim for(in order):
- 1) Light of Valinor on Glorfindel making him useful in quest and combat (attack)
- 2) Protector of Lórien on Saruman mainly to be sure that he can defend high amount of attack
- 3) Saruman's Staff on Saruman for different purpose depending on the situation. Either to ready him after defense without the increase of threat or if you don't need to ready Saruman, don't forget to search in the top cards of your deck a doom card as it will make you draw pretty often.
- 4) Keys of Orthanc on Saruman or Glorfindel. Ultimately it's better on Saruman with for Soldier of Isengard and Warden of Healing but during my games I attached it to both depending on the situation I was in.
- 5) Asfaloth on Glorfindel pretty obvious but it's not as important as the other attachment.
This deck revolves around Heroes and not so much around allies. Saruman can defend a lot of time during the same turn as long as you have doomed cards but you won't be able to do that many turns.
Defiant Challenge can ready up to 3 characters (Saruman, Sam Gamgee and the one you target) but most of the time it is 2 (Saruman and the one you target).
Frodo Baggins always uses his ressources to ready Saruman and Glorfindel uses his in late stages to draw and get cards for Protector of Lórien thanks to Elven-light.
Always nice to see Saruman and Frodo Baggins in the same deck for the kind of synergy. I would do some minor changes :
I would reduce the number of copies of Henamarth Riversong (1 or 2) and the number of Far-sighted. Both are sometimes redundant, even if Far-Sighted is obviously nice to look for the next shadows cards
I would take Imladris Caregiver away and replace it by Close Call, benefitting from the fact Saruman can play non-lore doom events. The early defense is thin when the scenario has en engaged ennemy since the first or second round.
I would replace 1 x Asfaloth by 1 x Legacy of Númenor
I would add 2 x A Test of Will and 1 x Steward of Orthanc, instead of some duplicates
I could consider Gather Information or Word of Command : since there are many ways to ready Saruman, he might play Word of Command without any timing / opportunity cost
