Dwarven mining deck built for play through of Khazad Dum cycle with Tale of Years campaign. Meant to bring more questing than combat since it will be paired with a combat deck.

Play tested first against The Kings Quest: The Iron Hills. Tons of fun. Can take threat hits from the quest because Ever My Heart Rises and Nori keep reducing the threat. Ever My Heart Rises was also critical early on to give my heroes extra actions until my army built up. At the end I had 20 Dwarfs on the board, defended the dragon with Stand Together, then killed him with a single hit from Erebor Battle Master.

There are several ways to focus dwarf mining, and this one is all about the dwarf bucket brigade. Each dwarf brings another dwarf, then we discard the deck to pay for others. Could have tried for more attachments for free with Well-Equipped, but that became unfocused. Each attachment helps fuel discard or card draw options. One copy cards are there to give you that option when you need it. I found that once one Zigil Miner and one Imladris Stargazer are in place the discard machine takes off. In short order more miners and stargazers are in place, as well as Dwarf Pipe and Expert Treasure-hunter. Between these and the Ered Nimrais Prospector there are so many options to bring back a card you want, then choose to draw the cards you need and discard the ones you don't for fuel.

Final rounds I had multiple Untroubled by Darknessin my hand, easily adding 18 or more questing on top of the allies. I was lining up Hidden Cache to be discarded together by the Zigil Miners for 6 resources wherever I wanted them, then putting them back in with the Dwarf pipes and repeating it the next round.

I struggled choosing between Thalin and Gimli, because I try to stay thematically correct as I prepare to enter Khazad Dum. However, the extra will power and hit points on Gimli are too good to pass up. Opening hand at The King's Quest, Ever My Heart Rises went on him. HE readied after questing, then took the first enemy undefended, then hit back for the kill. Never had to use him for combat again, but it gave me the relief I needed in the opening rounds. Thalin just can't do that.
