Darkling Door 6446
This is a deck built from just Core Set + The Wilds of Rhovannion cards for Path Less Traveled, an ongoing series on my blog, Darkling Door.
Played Against: Lost in Mirkwood
Equipping the deck for Success
This is a huge improvement over the Core-only Dúnhere deck!
Bard son of Brand gives me access to Weapons for Dúnhere without having to include a Hero.
Mulligan
As with any Dúnhere deck, this deck lives and dies by its Weapons. Unlike in most other Dúnhere decks, I can find them pretty quickly with the help of Beravor, even if they're not in my opening hand.
I'd accept any hand with either a useful Weapon or threat reduction like The Galadhrim's Greeting or Gandalf in it (since threat reduction lets me stall for time until I find a Weapon).
Questing
The Core Set and Wilds of Rhovannion lack some of the stellar 2 Allies found elsewhere in the card pool. Instead, I make ends meet with Events. Radagast's Cunning, Secret Paths, and Strength of Will all help to make progress early on when the is scarce.
Attachments like Celebrían's Stone, The Favor of the Lady and Protector of Lórien can help boost my numbers in place of the traditional Ally army.
Later on, once I have several copies of Lórien Guide and Map of Rhovanion out, I should be able to clear the Active Location every round regardless of how much willpower I'm putting out.

Thanks for the suggestion. Recording videos would be a bit outside my normal flow since I usually play with physical cards, but I'll keep it in mind. |
Oct 21, 2019Would Dunhere have enough attack to dent any enemies? Most enemies in recent cycles have really high defense IIRC. I guess the bows can help for direct damage, but wouldn't Spear of the Mark be better than Blade of Gondolin? |

@Authraw
Hey, is there any chance you might make some videos of this series or your Thematic Nightmare decks in the future? I'm a big fan of the blog and would love to see you out your decks through their paces.
